Why Cavalier difficulty still has no units?

GreekhitGreekhit Member Posts: 2,820 ★★★★★
When first Cavalier difficulty appeared as the top difficulty, it brought a new trend at monthly events quests: The absence of units.
This was defended by the game developers with the argument, Cavalier difficulty had top tier rewards, and they were enough to justify unit absence.
Thronebreaker difficulty appeared this month and it kept the same trend. No units.
Though Cavalier rewards now aren’t top tier, to keep the argument still valid.
Why then Cavalier difficulty still doesn’t have units as rewards?
It’s not a big deal, it’s only a total of 150 units for exploration (if I’m not mistaken) for each difficulty.
To me personally, is a very “cheap” move to gradually remove Units from EQ difficulties.
Opinions?

    Evidence :
    Uncollected (Units)

    Cavalier (No Units)

    Thronebreaker (No Units)

    🤔

So, I think the misconception here is that "every Difficulty except the top difficulty has Units in the rewards", but the actual case is that the bottom 4 Difficulties have units. When Cavalier difficulty was added, Uncollected Difficulty had units added to the rewards, but that was because we also removed the lowest difficulty at the time.

We have a set amount of units that we allot for rewards in monthly Event Quests, and that hasn't changed, but we have changed exactly where they are in the past.

You guys going to approach tuning the difficulties down more going forward? Even though "Conqueror" is currently the old "Master", something just feels...off that a Thronebreaker with r4 6s can't autofight a difficulty that is supposed to be tuned and meant for Conqueror title players.

Any chance these 600 Units that now are on the 4 lower difficulties (150 Units each), to spread across all 6 difficulties (100 Units each)?
The total Units amount will still be the same(600), but all difficulties will contain Units 🙂

That would be somewhat counterproductive. As much as we like to farm them, they're really better-suited in lower Difficulties to help earlier Players.

Would there be a way to change how these units are rewarded. Like no one is able to get more than 4 difficulties worth but I can still get them by completing the hardest 4 difficulties rather than the easiest 4.

This would help players who only do one tier of difficulty, but make it substantially harder for players who try to grab all the units.

They could move them to Solo Objectives instead and make them progression title based. That would also allow them to be tied to the specific difficulties that are more appropriate for that player to complete.

It is possible, but probably not worth the effort. They could award the units within monthly objectives, but setting up the objectives so that any combination of any of the chapters that award units would probably require a lot of work to set up.

The problem is that a lot of people explore the two hardest difficulties and just do a completion run on the lower difficulties. I get that they don't want to increase the units that can be gained, but by having the top two difficulties with no units, even though the total number of available units is the same, it functionally decreases the units from EQ for lots of players. I wish they would rethink this.

So what you are saying is the difficulty for all quests needed to be ramped up alot because change was needed just cause. Yet you won't add units to a now non top difficulty because you want to stick with the way things always have been?

The people planning this stuff at Kabam have some seriously questionable thought processes.
That's not what he said at all. This is the first month with TB difficulty. Cav difficulty was introduced like 2 years ago or something? Nothing has changed other than the introduction of TB difficulty. This January update saw the increase in health pools and attack in al the difficulties but after all the complaints, they'll back it down as they already went in and tuned them. Before TB, Cavalier didn't have units either. it was the same thing- bottom 4 had units- contender, proven, conqueror and uncollected. This is still the case.

Cav is still considered "top difficulty", which is why there isn't units as it has other valuable items in it.

As thronebreaker is above it by definition that means it is not top.
So a top 10 finish means its just a top 1 finish?

Out of 6 difficulties, Cav and TB are the top 2 in terms of difficulty. Make more sense?
