iOS graphics

Hey everyone looking for some quick help. Those who have played on both iOS and Android know the game simply looks better on iOS ( lvl and special move effects) so my question is this - I just bought the iPad 8 and it looks exactly like a stinkin android?!? What gives is there a setting or am I out of luck?

New iPad Pro here as well. And no effects either. I also figured it was a matter of optimization for the new hardware, but it is taking longer than I anticipated.
