this is the most ballsy thing that kabam has done in a while. it is a huge win for everyone who hates cheaters and mercs, and now mercs are not going to have any source of income from legends run anymore. i know this is probably going to get closed, but just figured everyone should see this

Works for me. Kabam will catch some hate for it but people need to realize it's the mercs that's the problem and the people willing to pay mercs and cheat their way to the title.

Now, they need to focus on the arena bots.

It was already ended for "everyone else" when mercs would complete multiple legend runs for all their customers pushing out folks playing the game themselves.

bro..... this is not just for mercs ruins everyone's chance at doing act legends runs, kinda sucks but it is what it is. I'm hoping they implement more ways to get weapon x and mythic soon.

This is a bummer, but a necessary one. Not that I’d ever set aside the time required to go for a Legends Run, but I’ve always enjoyed watching others try to reach that goal.

Games have rules. If the rules can’t be enforced, then they need to be altered to serve the original goal. Sucks, but it’s the right move.

This isn't to say that mercs aren't a problem, they very much are, but they're not the only ones who were able to do successful legends runs.

This very much seems like a case of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

This sucks to me considering i was gonna see about 7.3 or 7.4 legends run but now cancelling it sucks for me hope they find a way soon to do the new title where they can stop cheating

Understandable. My reading comprehension skills are rusty and I read OPs post incorrectly.

On a side note, given the nature of mobile games and this game in general, I don’t really see a long-term fix that doesn’t sound easier said than done.

I would argue that the system should just be discontinued forever and replaced with something else.

The whole "Legend system" always had been a poor, failed system. Glad it got taken down until a further fix for it.

I'll be waiting to see what alternatives will come up to replace it, instead of a speedrun thing or similar. And also in what other ways we will be able to get the exclusive rewards

100s of man hours to weed out the cheaters is not worth the time. Could they implement harder restrictions? Sure. But then they just further alienate legitimate players. If they can't make it fair for all and practical in compiling the winners, then the easiest solution is no one gets to enjoy an additional incentive. May seem unfair to those who would run, but it's the most logical thing to do.

I honestly just don't understand how they implemented a VPN ban, but chose not to account for people who said "alright I'll just get a merc without a VPN then".

At the end of the day though, this is clearly the mercs fault, not Kabams.

An easy way would be to ban those "who took a holiday" to do legends runs. Open a hotline for those banned to see if they are legit. High chances they are not.
impose travel limits, kabam makes the competition. If person does travel, can note GPS location and duration.
Ban VPNs totally, perma ban all known mercs.

It can be considered extreme but sometimes you have to got to those lengths to end a problem. They wouldn't need to if people didn't find it necessary to cheat to get a title for a game that could very well end tomorrow and they'd have nothing to show for it.

They wouldn't be banned for that though, just disqualified from eligibility on the legends run.

There are people who have legit reasons to use a VPN, but it also disqualifies you from a legends run, not sure why travel couldn't be the same.

It’s not really a win. As this does hurt some players taking away the run cause of the rewards….yes kabam does need to do something about the mercs. With that said. The eq legend runs with mercs are just as bad if not worse and nothing being done there

To everybody saying "this is not a win" and "this sucks", you're 100% right. It really does suck having to take the "nuclear" option, and it's not something we ever wanted to do, but after doing this for years and fighting this fight, it really felt like there was no other option to address this anymore.

To all of our players that do their Legends Runs without the aid of 3rd Party Software or Mercs, we are very sorry.

I know. They said it was too hard for them to determine who was legit traveling or who used a Merc that didn't use a VPN.
