BG Matchmaking needs to be fixed

BG is in a rough spot, due to the terrible matchmaking. But it’s not just because of modders and sandbaggers. It’s just that matchmaking itself is terrible. I just played 3 matches, and 2 of them I had no chance. Being a thronebreaker with only 2 r3s and going up against top tier paragons shouldn’t even be a problem to face. Is this a possible fix, or does the player base have to suffer through this for a while yet?

What rank are you in? At some point you can't expect to advance into GC faster than Paragons. Besides, when you get to GC you'll face anyone regardless of progression

Without the context of your position in BGs this post holds little weight.

If you are having a horrible time just playing the mode in victory track then yeah that’s meant to be somewhat fun. Your complaint could hold water.

However if you’re complaining about competing in the gladiators circuit then the idea of matching based on anything but rating is ridiculous given it’s designed to be a competition.

If you’re in the gladiator circuit with 2 R3s then that’s a farce frankly when half of my alliance haven’t managed to reach it.

If you’re above Plat 3 I’d say you’ve well and truly reached your level.

This is something I have been saying for a long time now - the current system does nobody any favours except for the tip top of the game.

Matchmaking shouldn’t take roster into account so that you place by merit, obviously roster will have an impact in the result but let’s be honest that’s the point of the game.

There needs to be a division format so you’re playing players of a similar level, whether that’s a guy with feet for thumbs but a million pound roster or a peasant that has reflexes to make an F1 driver weep. This way you’ll get rewards that match your placement but will have a fairly positive experience at the same time.

I'd understand complaining about modders but sandbagging? Sandbagging is dead lol. If you try to sandbag you'll realize it doesn't work anymore and loading up a bunch of weak champs won't affect matchmaking at all. You might get lucky and face a weaker account occasionally but most matches you'll be facing stronger opponents or same level as you.

If this is happening to you at GC, then these are pretty fair matches as long as you have similar bgs rating.
And yes, this proves your point that matchmaking is bad, but not at GC but at VT, causing all these miss matches at low GC tiers.
Too many lower players made it GC by only fighting each other, with many of them having no place there, when at the same time nearly half of Paragon accounts can’t get out of VT, due to Prestige matchmaking.

My Gladiator Circuit experience in just today
