Refunded and worried about a ban

Made a purchase today and didn't receive the units. I refunded this because I paid for nothing, but I'm worried about a ban.
I've heard of people being banned before for abusing refunding and don't want my situation to come across as this. Any steps I can take to not receive a ban?

They won’t ban you but it’s possible they’ll put contest credits on your account. You should always go through Kabam to resolve issues with purchases to be safe

Negative units that your account gets docked in the amount of the refunded purchase. You can’t purchase anything in game until you’re back in the positive.

They are negative units. Basically you will be unable to make in-game purchases until you’ve paid the balance that they determine based on the severity of the issue. They’re not a 1:1 ratio with units. But when you issue a refund through the App Store, the App Store has no control over or ability to remove the items you purchase, so from Kabam’s (correct) perspective, you bought something and didn’t want to pay for it, so they need to address it.
I would strongly suggest reaching out to support and exploring whether or not the purchase actually went through.

The contest credits usually work out to take a similar amount of money to clear as the refunds themselves were for, although that's not exactly true due to the fact that contest credits, like units, only come in certain bundle sizes.

If you make a purchase but for some reason do not see the items appear, I would open a support ticket before asking for a refund from the app stores. What you need to understand is that when the app stores refund a player, there's no coordination with Kabam. They just say we're giving this player their money back and just take it from the app developer. There's no appeal possible by Kabam. So if you buy something and then ask for an app store refund, Kabam will just be out the money even if you got the stuff.

To prevent this from happening, because this was heavily abused back in the day, Kabam now requires players to ask support for assistance with purchase problems or to ask for a refund. If you ask the app stores for a refund instead, Kabam will essentially treat this like you shoplifted the item, and essentially require you to pay the money back before you're allowed to make any more purchases or use the unit stores.

It is unfortunately the only way to regulate what is otherwise an unlimited ability to abuse the app store refund systems.

Yeah had contest credits applied this morning, thankfully it was for the exact same amount as I paid initially so it all balanced out in the end!

If you didn't get the units, kabam won't retract units (->negative total) from your account. They re not thieves.
