There is a big difference categorising russia and arabs. One is a country the other is a ethnic group. It would be the same if they decided to stop updating character of all Slavic ethnicity

Obviously not all arabs are Palestinians. Ik it very well, but how could you explain it to common summoners? Most of em probably have this misconception. Also they scrapped red guardian buff due to ukraine/russian war. So it is unlikely for them to introduce to arab based marvel character in the current scenario.

Goal: Good champs that are fun to play and effective at clearing content.

Method: Marvel has a wonderfully diverse palette of champs from all kinds of backgrounds. The game team has shown a willingness to reach deep into Marvel lore for sometimes obscure champs and pull them into the game (think FAM, Rintrah, Mangog, Aarkus, Masacre among others). The game team has also demonstrated a respectable ability to draw from Marvel influences and design interesting original champs.

Conclusion: There is no shortage of personalities and powers to draw from in the Marvel Universe, so there’s not a great reason to leave anyone or anywhere or anywhen out. Just design enjoyable and useful champs and players tend to get over whatever issues they may have. The top of my roster is chock full of champs who look nothing like me—and that’s cool.

They're right. Although I wouldn't say it's special representation. It's just representation. The fact that it seems special highlights the lack of visibility.
Games have always drawn elements of real-world issues. These are the things people look towards to see themselves in a different light. Intolerance goes deep. We still see remnants of this with gender. Some people believe superheroes should only be male, albeit subversively. At the end of the day, visibility matters. Especially to those who have been underrepresented.

Just remember, it only takes 1 kid to p!ss in the pool to ruin the party. Not all of anything is bad, whether it’s Arab, Muslim, or American. It’s just that as a society we only see and hear about the hate and the kids who are the p!ssers. Everyone is so damn worked up about everything. As a person of colour myself, I frankly would not care if they added champs that belong to the same race as me. Is the highest rarity of the champ going to be available to everyone that belongs to that particular race/region? Does it help fight inequality in the real world? Please explain how representation matters here?

As we all know, a character does not need to be well known to be an absolute monster in this game (Ghost, CGR, Hulkling, Nimrod, BWCV, the list goes on for miles).

That’s why I’ve never understood the “just make good champions” counterpoint. We all want that. Nobody’s asking for a champ to be made badly. If OP had said “hey, these are some of my personal favorite characters and I’d love to see them in the game,” nobody would bat an eye. But because OP said that representation is part of why they are some of their favorites, suddenly the quality of the champion is brought into question. It doesn’t make sense.

Representation does not matter to everybody the same way. That’s totally fine. I can say that when I see a champion from my community, it makes me happy, and I hope that people from other communities get to experience that as well.

I think maybe representation of various characters help the player to relate with their particular character... Representation matters for the same reason we celebrate pride month in the game. It gives a sense of inclusivity for different players. I actually couldn't think a reason to say how is it going to fight inequality in real life. Obviously you have a point, Even I agree that representation in a game is not going to change any inequality in real life. But it may help the player to relate with a character of shared identity. (sounds silly but back in 2019 My irl friend who suggested this game, used to have kamala khan profile pic because her name sounds " Indian". )

Exactly. People always question merit when someone says about diversity and representation. Both in game and real life.

They never confirmed who, but it was most likely Red Guardian. That is a unique situation in that Red Guardian is specifically an avatar of Russian imperialistic aggression. He is a soldier of his government, and that same real world government had just launched an imperialistic invasion. It was all just too on the nose.
