Is there any way to tell if my comments are in moderation or not?

I made a post in a thread on this forum, and then I went to edit a typo in the comment, and the whole comment disappeared. At first I thought it might just be a glitch, and I rewrote my comment, but that one disappeared too. I'm guessing they might have been flagged for moderation for some reason, but I don't know how to tell. Is there any mechanism to identify if comments are "waiting to be moderated" on this forum?

A popup will come up on the bottom left of the screen saying "your message will appear when it is approved" or something. The translation of that is "you'll never see this again and you should have copied it just in case"

Okay, I did see that popup when I tried to post a similar comment for the 3rd time. (They weren't the same, as they were long, and I had to paraphrase them because I didn't copy them.)

Should I expect that this is going to keep happening for the same comment? I have no idea what the moderation filters are, but my comment wasn't coming anywhere near violating any forum rules as far as I can tell.

I haven’t been able to tell why it happens. Sometimes it’s in a first response and sometimes when I’ve edited a comment multiple times. Further comments with the same text don’t get flagged as such.

Honestly I don't think anyone knows how it works. It's so random. The only thing we know for sure is that the comments that go to approval hell never return

i’m pretty sure it happens when you edit it too long after you initially post it. it says you have 15 minutes to edit a comment but i think if it’s more than 2 or 3 minutes it gets sent for review in case you changed it after people already agreed or liked it or whatever

Was it a brand new thread, or just replies in an existing thread ?

Yes, trying to edit it couple times seems to trigger this.

(or also, potentially prior history, don’t know if that would apply here or not)

Nah this is the first time it's happened to me. I did try to edit it a couple times. But then future posts on the same thread met the same fate.

Oh well, c'est la vie. No great loss.
