Current state of the game. Does MCOC have a future?

Let's just get straight into the issues with this game and why Kabam continue to fail the players every step of the way.

The elephant in the room, the AI. This is the single most dreadful and rage inducing part of the game, being forced to interact with an AI that reparries you, parries you when you dash in, intercepts your intercept with it's own intercept and now the AI is able to dex and light counter when you rush in. This is not a skill issue, this is a programming and development issue. The AI doesn't decide to do these strange things, it's not iRobot it can't think for itself, the AI's behaviour is programmed and given a set of instances/rules to follow based on variables such as user inputs or the nodes the AI is placed on, these are all programmed responses, if the AI behaves in a certain way it's because it was programmed to do so. I can with full confidence say this AI issue that has been going on for the last 3 years is not a bug or code incorrectly interacting with itself, if that were the case, the AI would be fixed as fast as the fixes come out for game "exploits", you know those things where Kabam incorrectly programmed a characters ability and they're taking down Abyss fights in 30 seconds, those are always fixed within days but if you the player use said champion while it's still in this "exploit" phase, you will be punished. Why? Oh it's because you're not using units, revives and potions to clear content... they're losing money when "exploits" happen. So they're fixed almost instantly and players are advised that they will be punished if they use this "exploit" while they're working on a fix.

The rewards system for every single game mode for Valiant bracket players is atrocious. Unless it's ACT9 or Everest content there is no access to R3 materials. Why is the highest difficulty for the monthly event quest still Paragon? Valiant has been a thing for a long time. A valiant difficulty should have been added a month after the title was released for players to obtain. We look at Battlegrounds as another example of how poorly rewards scale. The best of the best in Battlegrounds (definitely not me), should be getting R3 materials, they're literally the best players in the world. And why has the Battlegrounds store got no access to T4A? The game shifted to R3s being the top priority since Necropolis came out... that was last year November. Why are in-game rewards so slow to catch up with current state of the game but offers in store will have T4A? Why are spenders clearly being the advantage in every facet of the game?

My mental state because of AQ. AQ has been the most dead form of content for the last 5 years, it is so boring and the rewards are awful. The only reason people play it is for RAID tickets, AQ is literally the most useless game mode in all of MCOC. The paths are too long, there are too many fights and the fights are the same week in and week out. Kabam, you need to let go of AQ, please just bury it and let it rest in peace, AQ had it's time in the game, we don't need it anymore. The most logically approach is to allow alliances to run RAIDS every single week and remove the tokens to access RAIDS. RAIDS has 4 fights for the entire week, the rewards are decent and it's not time consuming or on a crunch 24hr timer. RAIDS should have been put into the game to replace AQ not add to it.

In conclusion I am just going to say something that every single player should know by now already. Kabam do not care about players quality of game experience. The things we moan about constantly shouldn't even happen, all the issues we bring up and how to fix it are all logical, it's not rocket science to think that when a new title tier opens that rewards around that title need to be upscaled to match the players progression, Kabam flawlessly integrate this logic when it comes to scaling the store purchases, they seperate the rewards between tiers when it comes to lining their pockets but when it comes to earnable rewards then Paragon and Valiant are pretty much identical.

We see it now with Ubisoft, EA, Baby Inc. they're all failing and losing players left right and center because of greed and not listening to players. MCOC is going down the exact same path, substituting a good moral compass where the goal is to make the player base happy with the product for shoving microtransactions down their throats whilst giving out a defective product. Let's see how much longer that lasts for Kabam.

Why did i read your name as Fintech
The same reason your name sounds similar to one of my commonly used phrases.

"The things we moan about constantly shouldn't even happen, all the issues we bring up and how to fix it are all logical"

What are you talking about? Rewards? AI? Something else?

If you mean rewards, there's reasons why all rewards aren't immediately increased to having the most rarest materials available immediately. This slow growth protects the longevity of the game. It gives something for end gamers to chase in places like Everest content or placing high in BGs.

You're obviously a smart person and could probably run Kabam Studios better. Which mobile game do you currently run and have kept running for 10 years?

If its a growth concern then why are the rarest materials you speak of always available for purchase? Are you slow or something or do you just parade as a moron for a living.

Also just because the games been running for 10 years doesn't mean it's a good game, FIFA has been running for 30+ years and it's one of the most awful games to play. Games like these survive because of microtransactions and because people have gambling addictions. Not because it's a good game.

kabam “not caring about the user experience” couldn’t be more wrong. they’ve made tons of QOL improvements in the last few years that’s made their modes more user-friendly and inclusive than ever.

bad AI is just something we have to deal with. it’s not like batterygate or the 2022 aw potion economy that nearly killed the game mode.

We have had far worse AI issues than we do now.

Rewards are everywhere and have been made far more generous than they were. Many people are never satisfied with the rewards and always want more more more. Such is life.

When you say Kabam does not care about players or quality, you're frankly full of ****. You have zero idea how much work is required to maintain and update a game like this, and it serves Kabam zero purpose to willingly piss of players. Why knuckleheads like you suggest this is bizarre and dumb.

People are so willing to completely ignore every single change they've made that doesn't make them money just so they can talk about how greedy they are lmao

Why shouldn't rarest materials be available to buy? If your conclusion is to increase the rate ftp get these materials, then the rate you c can purchase them will have to go up as well because if we get 3 r3s as a ftp, then people will not be buying r3s at a one a month pace anymore because their value decreased. That means they'll probably be buying then at a 6-9 per month pace now. That would also mean in a few months we would need r4s in the game and this would only decrease the lifespan of 7*s and make us have to get 8*s a lot sooner and then need all the content in the game tuned to 8*s because r6 7* stats are quite beefy.

The people in the economy team know what they're doing, know the consequences of what they can do, and they plan with the future in mind. You can't be myopic when it comes to the economy of the game unless you don't care about the game and want to speedily march it to its death.

Also be respectful to others if you want to stay here longer. No need to insult people just because they don't agree with you.

Because they know, from the games history, that the amount of people who pay for overpriced offers when new materials are released are just a handful. The player base were not all running to buy small amounts of T4A when it was released.

You are not the first person to make these "state of the game posts". You won't be the last. You haven't had some great revelation that other people haven't. In fact, you are basically just a cookie cutter poster that is exactly like the others, just change the topic of the post. We saw these when 7*'s were introduced, we saw these when the layoffs happened, when there was a lack of content, when the servers were having issues, when the studio was bought by netmarble, when MROC shut down, when Marvel Future Revolution shut down, etc..

The game is still enjoyable and still has a strong following. The people who keep the game alive are the small spenders and F2P. for the most part. Big spenders aren't the sole reason this game still exists. There aren't many games like this that have lasted this long. FIFA and MCOC are not the same. FIFA is probably kept alive by EA because of the revenue from Madden.

There's always something crazy happening with the game that makes some people question the longevity of it. The game is still here but those people aren't.

FIFA is not being kept alive by Madden revenue .. FIFA is huge around the world, Madden pretty much only Americans play it. If anything as buggy and crappy FIFA can be, its keeping EA alive.

You are right that FIFA and MCOC are not the same. The reddit sub for one of the game modes for FIFA is as big or bigger than the MCOC player base (1m+ subs). As awful as FIFA gameplay is, it is one of the most recognized and enduring games in the world.

For someone who expects millions of datapoints from anyone raising a legitimate issue in game (and using that crutch to troll them), you are quite comfortable making up facts which could have been checked with a simple google search.

There are so many positives and negatives to this game (I’m not glazing Kabam here because they do get things wrong, but they do good things too)

    Positives

    - Art Team go above and beyond, they don’t miss.
    - Characters that come in game usually have their best outfits. (sunspot do better)
    - Animations are typically fantastic.
    - Battlegrounds offers a different experience compared to normal story content and Alliance Wars. (Yes there are issues but the fact it exists I think is a good thing)
    - Live streams are a great way to connect and come together.
    - We have a say in who gets reworked and introduced into the contest (Cyclops and Shathra for example)
    - Paragon+ managed to get 2 free 7* in the same month, not even bad ones either, even uncollected getting a 6* chee’ilth is very helpful,

    Negatives

    - Lack of communication
    - Content creators do not get much recognition from Kabam (hopefully that changes due to it being their tenth anniversary)
    - AI and Bugs
    - Expensive deals. (I understand due to inflation and that)
    - Inconsistency with the evaluation reports (looking at you serpent)
    - Inconsistency with rewards (mysterioum etc)

There’s probably more Ive forgotten but the negatives can 100% be sorted out, we have to sometimes respect Kabam. Do they get things wrong? Absolutely. Do they get things right? They do. This game will have a future as long as we’re still playing, they just need to treat the community (a little bit better) and we may not be here for their 20th but the younger generation of Combat and a marvel fans will. Let’s enjoy the 10th anniversary!

The only thing that can kill this game in the near future is bad AI, if the actual gameplay isn't anymore enjoyable then people, me for example, would stop playing this game. This is a fighting game and has to be fun fighting, if this game keeps having AI problems and the situation worsens then many will quit

The game isn't shutting down anytime soon. At least not from their perspective. Any game has ups and downs. Very few have lasted for 10 years or more.
