Epoch of pain hype/appreciation thread

This thread is for talking about this new piece of content and hyping it up for release. My "mcoc motivation" has been pretty low for quite some time now. When the grand banquet was first announced back in around september i was insanely excited and because we had just come from the launch of the crucible, which i still think is the best piece of endgame content in the game, my excitement was immeasurable. And then skip to december with the launch of the "grand" banquet and it turned into one of the most negative and worst events in the game's history i have EVER seen and i have been here for a long time. After the grand banquet my faith in the game was almost at an all-time low. Since then it has gotten better but it has kind of remained in a limbo-like state.

BUT NOW, epoch of pain has re-ignited that mcoc spark ive always had for this game. These are the best moments for me in the game's community. The entire community coming together to face this new and challenging quest and sharing strategies or showing best counters for all the fights and dozens of content creators sharing their experiences to everybody. The last time we had a community moment this strong was with the launch of 8.4. The rush i felt with hundreds of thousands and even millions of people rushing into the game and starting to face this new content and watching all the different creators go through it at the same time as you and it feels so fulfilling.

Im writing this before it even launches and who knows, maybe ill eat my words and it might be absolutely grueling (it will be) or something else will happen and i will hate epoch from there on out. But seeing this come into the game realy ignited something in me that ive never felt before. Hell thats where i got the idea and motivation to write this speech and i HATE writing.

This will definitely be a skill check for some summoners. Can't wait for the obligatory "this content is too hard, it needs to be nerfed" that always happens.

I have now 50 revives in da bank for now for a ew paragon play with a very weak science roster, decent mystic, and overall weak for everest content, see how it goes!?!?

I'm excited for it because that is how I'll get my alt valiant since it only needs to complete the quest for the 2 r3s. A lot less time than it would take to explore 9.1 and anything else.

how 2, it only gives 1 2-3 gem and 3 t4 alpha and from the chest 4 t6 class catalyst and a 1-2 gem. That is not enough

The funny thing about this content is that if your so unlucky that u have only 6r5 ascended champs and only pulled the worst 7* in the game(vtd,war machine, etc), u can try for good ones and get valiant with good champs

this quest should just be called the "get valiant for revives" quest since ares give you more damage/ attack rating / revive used or per knock down

I mean, yeah, I feel the same way, but I kinda always foresaw that. There is no way that they would make it easy given the crazy rewards they're dangling.
Depending on how truly difficult it ends up being, and assuming no helpful cheeses that we can find on youtube, I'm going to look at this as a straight up unit sale. As in, here are the rewards, here's how much units in revives it will cost me, and are the rewards worth the units they're asking.

I feel like the rewards are worth it even if it cost a lot of units, it's better rewards than banquet, and I'm sure it won't cost 20k units for me to complete.

Like the easiest and quickest things to aquire at any given point in time in this game

T5cc is really easy to get, especially considering I'll need to have beaten everything up to 8.3 and be paragon. I also had t6b and t3a expire from what banquet got me. None of those materials are particularly difficult to get if you're paragon.

I think there is quite a few summoners that would be excited about 8.4 that wouldn’t touch this content - especially from what we are seeing as details emerge.

Glad you are excited OP. I know there are summoners who live for this type of content. I just don’t think it’s a majority. If Kabam wants a revive fest community event - they should be revving up the death counter milestone strategy.

OP specifically mentioned that it wasn’t since 8.4 that the community had come together like this strongly….i was simply addressing that point. Specifically, I don’t think it’s comparable at all for lots of reasons.

I had always told myself that the next piece of Everest Content to get release I would forsure jump on… then this got announced.

Im a low tier valiant player with 17.5k units
33 lvl 1 revives
28 lv 2 revives
Various of health potions.
500 4 hour crystals
20 r3
And truth be told, I still don’t think I’m ready.

I like the hype. Reminiscent of when Necro was launched in 2023. I just hope Ares is manageable, a hard fight but something you can learn so runs 4,5 and 6 feel a lot better than the first couple.
