Well after a bit of a slow start, this challenge is starting to get interesting. We are all on the fast track to Thronebreaker now.
I beat that Medusa pretty easy with Black Panther and the next quest with Nick Fury as well, will share some screenshots soon of where my roster and progress is at.
Sinister was doing bosses like IMIW, mysterio in under 20 hits. Totally nuked champion and havok too. Guy just demolishes paths and fights he has no business dealing with.
Cap was a pain but sparky nearly got him. Just got bad luck with taunts applying at the end.
Kinda gutted can’t get this thunderbolts calendar to update to 6* as not sure where/when we are gonna get another to get TB. You need to be TB first to access most of the free 6* champs so guess will have to wait on another selector from somewhere. Any avenues I’m overlooking?
Used gamora on darkhawk and a combo of sparky and BWDO on adaptoid, triggering spite dex 3 specials and using sp3 was the only way to play around footloose as no hard counters. Worked well tbh.
Thought I’d need a couple ranked 6* for TB but just seen you now get it just from act 6, happy days. Should be able to get a few more from calendars etc now.
Getting a relic or two is the next hurdle to get through act 8.
Herc’d the hell out of Grandmaster with a few revives, played better than I ever have against that guy so I’m happy, Herc also came in handy against the dark hawks and the red skulls of act 6.
Looking at the deals available now, it would be easy for a whale to do this challenge but that would be no fun haha.
Fight was pretty tough, definitely felt bugged, he was not being stunned during time collapse sometimes and not taking extra damage. Fight mechanics not always working as intended. Just weird. Anyway couple team revives I had expiring got it done. Definitely way easier with Hyperion in that penultimate phase.
BWDO was my best champ there as she wrecked him in time collapse but she can’t deal well with blocking his specials.
Sinister powergain came in clutch in final phase to hit sp3 first.
Daily super enabled me to r4 sinister pretty quick since getting TB and he’s just blitzing everything now with a full yellow bar. Not sure I’ve used another champ in act 7 paths and bosses aside from kang. The kingpin synergy is amazing for him to control fights, can’t believe I’ve never used it before.
Yeah the relic thing is a bit of a problem! Is it absolutely essential that we use a relic to beat Cerastes? Or will wounding two of his shields at a time be enough?
Just got bahamet down (forgot he’s 8.2, not cerastes 😁). Sinister is actually really good here for a non skill. His stun pause makes getting the proximity charges really easy and his bleed healing keeps him at full health during the fight. It’s still really long. Last phase the degens steadily melt him.

Here the offer
maybe you should save up for heart of fire cuz that may get you a seven star for free if its in gacha box again
Ok so cerastes I think is gonna go down without relic. It’s actually easy to keep damage open as you are only looking to knock him down and hit block so you can cycle those v quickly and keep two armours broken.
Sinister absolutely wrecked him during the stunnable phases I had degen ticking 200k per sec.
It’s slow now I can’t stun but sinister still great option with his healing, bwdo will be good too. I reckon herc will be ok @Toproller89, maybe there’s some issue triggering infuriate?
Ran through all champs and he’s at about 40%. Hoping there’s no relic catch on final phase but from memory it’s just keeping out his way and hit his block so don’t see an issue.
I’m thinking glykan will also be ok as you can chip away so valiant should be doable.
@KabamDORK@KabamPinwheel Have any summoners that you know of completed this challenge? And is there any chance of getting stats to prove we opened no crystals?
I know there’s a statement yearly that some people get in their emails about hours played and fights etc. just curious.
So glad that we get the 6 star thunderbolts as well, that will make getting paragon a breeze!
Choosing BWDO, Wiccan and maybe Iron Man from selectors.
Close to another R4 which will probably be Wiccan.
Now comes the Act 8 grind which I will start tomorrow.
Nice. I took Wiccan so far and gonna pick two of storm, venom, Ironman. Can’t decide what the best option is there..
I’ve just got last quest of 9.1 to do and that will give 2 r4 generics for paragon but not sure I have a counter for boss, maybe sinister can work, will just have to try…
Slowest participant of the challenge here, back to give a little update on the 6* I ended up choosing and providing a little reason why.
Now, I COULD have picked either Hercules or Sinister, since it’s been proven that they work well already, but I didn’t want to because I felt like it would be a little boring if I picked the same champion that one of you guys picked, so I opted to look for another option instead. The selector had a lot of great champions in it, anyways.
I initially leaned towards Doom, but I realized that the next big wall I’m going to have to deal with is 6.2.2 Sinister, and if I chose Doom I wouldn’t have a good option for him. I could’ve theoretically used Ghost, but that takes a tremendous amount of skill and I’ve also never played Ghost before in my life, so using her wouldn’t be ideal. This did help me reduce my remaining options, though, since whoever I pick needs to be able to take that Sinister fight. I ended up settling on either Overseer, Guilly 2099, or Warlock.
I was tempted to go with Overseer, since he also has a Hulk synergy which gives him immunity to Reversed Controls, which would be very helpful for Grandmaster. However, I decided not to go with him as I tried playing him on my main account and I wasn’t really enjoying him that much.
This left Guilly 2099 and Warlock as my last two options. Through this decision process I realized just how much their utility overlaps: Robot immunities, heal control, Armor Ups for Havoc, etc. I was having trouble choosing between the two, as I liked Warlock’s utility better but I felt like Guillotine 2099 would be better damage-wise in Act 6. However, I played around with Guilly a bit in Act 6 on my main account and I found the whole “end every fight with a Special 3” playstyle very frustrating, so I decided I had the information I needed to make my decision.
Great utility, can take pretty much every annoying Mutant fight in Act 6, and has Bleeds on his heavy so he could theoretically be another option for that Do You Bleed Medusa. I figured that he would not only be helpful for Act 6, but also a good addition to my roster overall and would see a good amount of use in the post-story future as well.
As a final note, big thanks to this thread for helping me decide between the two. A little outdated, but good arguments and insights were provided for both sides:

I’m guessing there might not be much until July 4 but who knows.
Sinister took all 6.4 paths and most bosses.

We will hit paragon in no time.

Maybe that’s what this maintenance is about, fixing stuff like with this Kang.
I’m gonna wait until I R4 Herc and I’ll push some more
Nearly finished 8.1. Think it’s 8.2 gonna get stuck on as need a relic to beat Cerastes. Do we know if they ever give relic selectors?
BTW @Toproller89 the act 7 exploration bundles are the ones to get @ 440 units. Same thing in act 8 is 7000, in fact it’s worse as no energy refills.
Yeah defo needs looking at @Toproller89.
The act 7 ones are really good value.
