I think one of the main possible issue is if the google play store wasn't preloaded in the phone like Xiaomi or Huawei but installed through an APK, Is it the case or is it still considered official partners @kabamcrashed ?
Yes. It's very possible because that's how emulators work. If Google Play isn't native to your device, it's probably the reason.
is that what would be defined as sideloading?. yes an emulator is not an actual mobile phone but is also a mobile phone in the point of having the Os and doing all the OS normally does and also having the actual playstore on it. and getting the game from there is from the official source. playing on a different device that what the emulator says is another problem but not sideloading
But getting a modified version of the game or breaking the official version to mod it would count as sideloading
I agree with the new system as long as it is working perfectly. What bothers me is the sudden way in which all this happened. Problems with Xiaomi? Game turbo? Play Store? What is the real problem? There are problematic players and fair ones, but everything is mixed up and everyone accuses everyone else. It's sad that you are in the middle of something you never belonged to, It's frustrating. Regarding my account, I have a clear conscience, I wouldn't throw away years of effort for something insignificant.

Yes. That's what sideloading is. Getting an app from a place that isn't an official source.
An emulator simulates an environment. Even if you're allowed to download the google play store on BlueStacks, it's still not an official source.

now you're just twisting the definitions to suit the explanation you want. playstore and apple stores aren't physically on the device they're with google and apple. now getting the application from there is the official source uploaded to the stores, now the destination can be the actual phone or an emulator but that isn't the point. getting the game from an emulator is from the official source and not sideloading.
playing it is another matter which kabam have already clarified is against tos but not the point of discussion or relvant to it
I’ve only ever downloaded the game or upgraded from Apple App Store. I wouldn’t know a mod or 3rd party software if it bit me in the ass. I’m 67, started playing this game because it helped with my arthritis. Now my account is banned and I have no idea why.
Glad it is being addressed. Ive always download my game through Google play and I'm not very smart when it comes to tech. Like I ive played the same way for years and have never once done anything different. If I did something wrong I wish I knew exactly what it was.
"Another couple thousand accounts have received warnings for potential infractions"
What was the warning?
1) 7 days bans
Or
2) a Msg you have been warn for potential infractions
So I have had a quick look through the forum, and didn't noticed anyone mentioned they got a Warning Msg of Potential Infractions, just the 7, 30 or permanent ban.
If this is the case then I think it might where the problem is.
Find and banning modder is much need for the game, especially in the competitive mode, BG and AW.
However with a new system running live for the first time with this big number of players being tag , maybe Kabam could of be more cautious with the ban implementation.
If Kabam feel confident with certain players then sure permanent ban or 30 days so is great.
But I assumed that those got 7 days was the 2 thousand players that "Portential" infractions, Which seem far too risky and also pointless for Kabam. A better approach would of been a Warning msg in the line of:-
"We believe you may bave infractions our T&C, please ensure you only play MCOc from our official clients, if unsure please contact T&C or our customer support for more details"
Banning "potential" infractions players for 7 days actually does a lot of damage unnecessarily.
For someone it would affect their double check or chased item, or just grinding for 4th July.
For other like @Priyabrata said being labelled as a cheater might be worst.
Also for every one player been nand for 7 days, 29 other players also get disrupted in AW and especially Raid next week.
All based on potentially infraction.
Personally (if all of this is the case) I think it might worth Kabam unban all players with 7 days ban first thinf on Monday, honestly it wouldn't make any different to Kabam but wpuld ease this whole situation.
The 10k bans were coming from app downloads and not new PC players? If so, why this wave didn't happen like, months ago, before the PC release that is? Because if the bans were from the PC downloads, pc players don't usually get banned for something that minor usually (correct me if I m wrong). Anyway, I think the backlash on the game s reputation, even if we re talking about 10% of brand new players, will be massive negative.
If only Kabam was showing this kind of dedication to fix the AI...

Obviously you didnt read or understand what was said on the initial ban post this is new anti cheat software kabam introduced so there was no way to do this months ago

Obviously having introduced the "new anti cheat software" coincidentaly with the PC release wasn't that convincing.
Well i got suspended for 7 days for using pc version (official). It said i used third part software, which i didn't Some people said overclocking your gpu might count as one, like why? I have the worst gpu ,gt710 and my game won't run good enough without overclocking a lil. And for anyone going to attack me for being a cheater, Well i challenge if i really used cheats or broke TOS for using 3rd part software then kabam can perma ban me,no problem

Emulators may not be side loading but have been against TOS for years and has been, and continues to be, a valid reason for banning.
Kabam, you can't even adjust your AI, let alone ban someone properly. The lack of support and stupid decisions are part of the routine. I started playing at the beginning and I see the decline of this game daily, BUG, CHEAT, totally manipulated AI. Anyway, I believe this game won't last until the end of the year. Hugs and thanks for ruining the game just thinking about promotion and not all your players!
So if I’m following, any download not from an approved source got your account banned.
That leads to some questioned based on what I’ve gathered from the posts I’ve looked at:
1.How did you determine which ones got full bans and which one got 7 or 30 days? 2. Are you expecting the 7/30 day ban folks to know that’s the problem? 3. And are you going to allow them to keep playing or will they be flagged again as soon as the ban is lifted? 4. Are they supposed to delete the game and go get it from a legit source or can they keep playing the way they have been after it ends?
Some clarity on those kind of details both in game and other places (forum/discord/etc) might help along with investigating all the false positive claims.
I downloaded the game from Google play store since I have started playing 9 years ago and un-installed it just now and re-downloaded it again from Google play and upon opening the game it shows I am still suspended for 6 days. Please fix this immediately as I have never used any 3rd party software whatsoever and this ban is costing me time in alliance events. This is ridiculous to be wrongfully banned out of nowhere due to your lack of research on individual players before running your ban detection software.

It seems like the 7 day ban went to first time offenders and 30/permanent went out to people that had previous infractions in their 3-strike system.
This is the message I got this morning and after sending a ticket this is the response I got just now It says that my account determined to have been accessed by an unauthorized distribution of The Contest. I am playing this game like always did for the past 15 months. No account sharing, no mod. I have downloaded the game from play store. Okay So what I think happened was vpn. I log in game (kabam account) either with my wifi or mobile data. But when I go to summoners market I cannot get access to xsolla login page, it was when kabam was handing out free 7 star guardian for paragon and valiant players, so I tried to login using a vpn and it worked. Been doing it ever since. What I think happened was when they launched this cheat detection software, it may have detected that my in-game login internet address and my summoner market (vpn)internet address is too different, thus it concluded that my account has been accessed by a third party or something like that. I don't know, what do u guys think?

Kabam has stated several times that VPNs are perfectly acceptable to use and they do not trigger bans. The suspensions were, as they stated, against accounts that accessed the game through an unapproved source. The use of a VPN would not change the source from which you downloaded the game.
Woah since when is "Aptoide" a reliable official source?
I believe it's another instance of support not being on the same page with the people that have the actual information. The game isn't even on that app store.

Vpn is not against kabam tos so just using vpn would not trigger this
That support response is actually pretty clear on what the issue is. I thought people were getting the generic “we can’t tell you any specifics” message. If people submitted a support ticket and got that message they’d at least know what Kabam thinks they did and how to fix it.
If you got it legit from the play store then it seems like a false positive. Hopefully the team investigating those gets to your account and can confirm that.
Kabam doesn't give a clear answer through support, nor a solution, it only tells you the official sites to download the game, insinuating that we downloaded it from an unofficial one when it's not like that. My answer is to download it from the Google Play Store. I use a Xiaomi Redmi 12 and it does come with the Google Play Store installed by default. That you don't want to admit that your anti-cheat system has errors is another thing. I don't use third-party applications to play, you are not more serious than me and anyone who says otherwise. I hope you send me through support the supposedly unofficial site where you say I downloaded the game.

They wont do that since cheaters would then try to find ways of working around that supports response is going to be your best explanation
