Let’s talk crashed

Just when you think things can’t get any worse in the game kabam crashed says hold my beer. Honestly the downward spiral started when they gave crashed the reigns. Before we had bugs and crashes. He’s single handedly making decisions for almost a year now that have done nothing but cause players to quit and bring up the b word again. Even from ccp’s. Last years banquet was the most horrible in 10 years in this game. He has made the game all about monetization. Sorry bud but your time at the top has almost killed a game that has sustained itself for 10 years before all of these horrible changes.

Read this twice… unfortunately I can’t find where it’s wrong. Which makes it’s more frustrating because Crashed at times seems to get it…. But the results have been awful

Why do you need to play the game? Just buy things in the web store and auto fight daily quest. It’s not like content that you have to actually play is approachable/playable or rewarding.

While I don't think this is entirely without merit, I do think it is a bit unfair to pin the blame on just one person. It's a room full of tone deaf people, not just one tone deaf person

On topic In the past you might have a bug once a month, now it's almost daily, how on earth can you keep running a game that has issues every day? Of course players will stop playing then.

crashed has posted in his dev diaries where his ideas come from. These changes have been his decisions. Do others have to give approval? Yes, but crashed has posted his thoughts as he rolls through all of the “changes”. So far every change he has made other than the valiant quest which we only got for 3 months has had negative feedback and the community has voiced that loud and clear.

Decisions as of lately have been pretty terrible.

This game has lasted 10 years and Crashes ideas to bring change is great but the implementation has been horrible.

From EQ being swapped and changed around multiple times for the worst version of it to be released, complaints about lack of energy and now they take away energy?

They've gone back to ignoring theyre players, there was a time whete we felt heard and now it's gone again

I've said it before, but everything changed once Jax and Miike left. People joked at the time that they saw the writing on the wall and were jumping ship, and everyone said "no, that's not it". But maybe these changes have been discussed for awhile, and Jax and Miike were on to something.

one example is the prestige flip. Crashed’s change to the system has taken away choice and undone work people have done for years on their account. I’ve been here since launch day, been through 12.0, and everything else. If it isn’t broke don’t fix it. People have played for 10 years without complaining other than bugs, crashes, and maintenance. You don’t change what people have been playing for over a decade in some cases overnight and think they will stay. Crashed stop with it all. It’s been a bust.

Dude I think has good intentions, but what the game has been is why it’s stayed successful until crashed took over. Promised us the best banquet ever and delivered the worst. Crashed I’m not trying to say you don’t want better for the game but you are single-handedly with your decisions destroying it and tanking it. Is that your intention?

For years players have been saying the game is dying, and it's been a ridiculous thing to say every time. And frankly, it's still ridiculous to say the game is dying. It's not dying; it's being killed.

Slowly, painfully, purposefully and meticulously killed.

Not sure if Netmarble is to blame, or if it's the new regime in Kabam over the last year and change, but they're actively harming the game with every single decision.

I like the constructive thoughts in here. When the community is coming together in agreement there is a real issue that needs to be addressed. And yes to post above me that’s my point in a way. The game is being killed not dying.

My boss told me if I talked honestly with the community about the business side of the game I would paint a bullseye on myself. Most devs don't do this, but I think treating a community like adults is the best approach.

A lot of the criticisms are fair. I work hard to try to make the game better. A lot of what me and my team have worked on has gone well, but there are also decisions we have to make that players don't like. And yes, when it comes to the energy economy and prestige 30, I'm one of the most senior people involved in those decisions. I'm working on a dev diary that will explain why we have made those decisions. I'm sure many will disagree with the choices, but at least you will all know why.

Having said that, I don't think it's fair to say I have made the game all about monetization. I don't get to set our revenue targets, it's not my call how much money we are expected to make.

Edit: Also, I'm one of the more senior people who is visible to the community, but you seem to imply I'm in charge of the game. I am not.

On one hand you talk about treating us as adults and on the other hand take away the freedom to play the game as we need or when we need? Energy refills were allowing us to play when we have free time. Now we are forced to login when energy refills. You know what this will do? Make the adults play less. If that’s what the desired outcome from the game team is then mission accomplished.

every month or 2 you have a new sale. Add to that the gradual lowering of in game items we have been able to get for free for 10 years, it seems to be a push to get us to spend more. Everything has been about having to buy to keep up or get left behind. That is monetization. In the past 9 years before all of these decisions started getting implemented I could spend as I wished and feel like it was a choice I enjoyed and benefitted from. Now it seems if I want to keep up I have to open my wallet. Especially with the prestige flip. Also that prestige flip has taken the enjoyment out of one of my favorite parts of the game outside of being a collector. I enjoyed only having to worry about my top 5 champs and make any silly choices I wanted on the rest of my champs. I’ve found some real gems this way that no one else looks at. Now I have to choose what you set as the top 30 prestige champs in the game to stay on top of if I wished to do so. Relics when they were introduced were never supposed to be deciding factors in prestige. They were promoted as an add on not a necessity. Now between prestige and nodes dependent on strikers they have become a necessity. The decisions may have good intentions behind them, but they have all been failures. I’m not even worried about cyber Monday or banquet this year because it’s already been made evident it’s gonna require a spend fest. The game was fine as is. It needed some tweaks to refresh it, but you sir have flipped the game upside down from what some of us have been playing for a decade. I’m trying to stay constructive and be respectful. I’d like to see success from changes but so far since you took over every change has been laid behind a paywall. There has always been paywalls but it’s been horrible under your tenure running as head dev sir. Also to your edit I know you don’t own the game, but you are the face right now. As the face you tell us one thing and when things get dropped it’s completely different than what is related to us in advance.

We all know why you're making these decisions tbf, Net marble wants more 💲💲. I don't blame you, you're just doing what they tell you to do, but sorry, you can't turn the clock on the game economy like this after YOU let it get out of hand.

"You know all that energy we gave you for free for years, well we've decided we don't like that now, sorry, pay up"

It's just greed plain and simple.

And what makes it worse is despite all this monetization, the game is still constantly bugged to 💩 on the weekly and you can't launch an event/content that runs well out the box to save your life the last 3 months. Maybe have a word with your bosses to fix that if they want to bleed us all dry.

certainly get my respect for coming in and commenting on this post especially. It’s possibly very bad coincidence that some of the worst decisions made by the game team happened on your watch, and I feel it’s safe to say the game is in the worst shape it’s been in likely ever. It’s just incredible how quickly things have nosedived and I think almost all the decisions that have been made lately have left the majority of (if not all) the community scratching our heads and frustrated. It’s amazing how much worse (like seriously on the brink of collapse) the game is than it was just a couple weeks ago. It seems the reasons are obvious, but it also seems any suggestions to completely reverse course are being discounted and ignored. An explanation for the decisions for all the recent changes should be made immediately, and honestly should have been made before such game-changing “changes” were implemented - we MAY have been able to adjust to them better if we understood the why beforehand. Waiting to post any explanations a couple months will likely be too late for many to continue to have interest in the game.
