I've thought about it for a couple days and I think I have made the decision to stop spending.

I hate to say, but even though this is just a game, I am deeply offended by the Spider-woman situation. I have been playing this game extremely consistently now for 8 years and I have been a bit of a Kabam apologist throughout this time but my opinions are unfortunately changing, and it has nothing to do with the state of the game. Its a huge, huge game from which the original developers very likely never expected for it to get this big, so the bugs, I can get passed or at least have the patience to let them get to it when they do, but with Spider-woman its a different situation.

Kabam does not sell you crystals to get through story content or any content. There are no awakening gems to purchase to unlock battle grounds or sig stones to increase your rewards at the end of an event (well...I guess that's not necessarily true anymore). Champions are completely different. They are sold explicitly. Their sig stones and awakening gems are purchased explicitly for use on these characters. The amount of time and crystals and money spent to acquire a champion that is actually good and capable of some level of flexibility is very high. The nerfing of Spiderwoman, particularly in the way they did, i.e. nerfing an extraordinary valuable part of her kit on offense, while telling the community that it was a defensive oriented decision is just...offensive.

I spend about 3-5 grand a year on this game. I know that's a bit embarrassing but I just love(d) the game and I thought it was worth it to help stay competitive and to do my part in keeping the lights on. With this change, I am so indignant as a consumer and a patron of this game that I will no longer put one penny into this game for as long as Spider-woman is still getting nerfed offensively. If it goes through, I will never spend again, I will continue to play free to play, enjoy what I get and that's it.

I encourage all of you to do what you feel is right but personally for me, this simply is something I can no longer fun. Spiderwomans utility is not just about flexing on people in battleground, she is a critical character for many players who cannot afford to get every single character that comes out and max them out immediately. That ability you are taking away for many ftp players, or kids that down have adult money is sometimes the only way they'll ever have a shot at taking down a Serpent or a Bullseye (and its not really even a great shot!). I encourage you all to join me but in the end, the game is what and how you want to play it.

Sorry for the long post, I've just never been so disappointed in Kabam.

Very well said. I've been an avid gamer for 30 years or so, always bouncing around from game to game, pc or console.

I found this game Dec of 17 (I think) and haven't played anything seriously since. Had no idea mobile games were this deep. I spend decently, here and there, when there is value I appreciate, but canceled my sigil yesterday and may not spend again.

As many have said, it's more the way they are trying to justify this than the nerf itself. I'm not good enough to really use the ensnare effectively, just enjoyed her massive stings (never had ham at high level). My SW is at R4 and I used a generic on her and tons of stones.

Hope they sort this out, and further hope they stop doing this kinda tone deaf stuff. Sigh.

I have to concur with the OP on this one. Lagacy did a video on this topic with probably the best explanation as to why this decision is utter BS. If they remove it from her defensive kit only, then it may be at least tolerable. But I R4ed her for her offensive utility primarily, which they even said is just fine and doesn't need balanced.

Here's a novel idea, Kabam: TEST YOUR NEW CHAMPIONS THOROUGHLY ENOUGH BEFORE THEY'RE RELEASED SO YOU DON'T NEED TO PISS OFF YOUR ENTIRE PLAYER BASE.

There are a lot of us “older” gamers that make a very comfortable living. Spending $300-500/mo on the game is a way to decompress. I am in the same boat as Mr. Crab, but there are people who can comfortably spend $3-5k/mo. Kabam seems to be losing these spenders at a much higher rate over the past month +.

Apathy is what kills games. For me, I simply just don’t care anymore. After playing this game for almost 11 years it is a bit bittersweet.

Just enjoy it the way you can without investing more than what you think they deserve and ride it until the wheels fall off.

I agree dude, but I didn't get there until now. It was hard to get there because I've been with the game since just about the beginning (it's more like 8.7 years), and Kabam was a very different company back then. I have a lot of nostalgia for the game, it got me out of a lot of difficult times in my life over the last 8 years by just providing a distraction or something to look forward to (Fourth of July deals, Cyber-weekend deals, the Banquet event, the big end of year gift). I don't want to see the game end, even now, but I just can't fund this type of, honestly, tone deaf, clearly hypocritical and abstract heartlessness for their community.

I never thought of using her as attacker so I'm trying to understand the situation, I suppose ppl who invested sig stones to bring her to 200 and rank 4 her are the most pissed right now

When your investment in champions get nerfed, nobody will be happy

well, my oldest son blew through $2500 on random **** in his first month away at college (luckily not on mcoc), and his mom is a doctor. I suspect Dr. Crab meant kids who have access to adult money. Also, as far as discretionary spending goes, depending where you live, $3-5k over a year is nothing. My personal monthly discretionary budget is about $5k and I'm certainly not a doctor. Of course, a good chunk of that goes to expenses some would deem just as frivolous as a mobile game, but some of us don't like ads in every single streaming thing we open.

As for OP's choices, we all have lines we draw for what deserves our discretionary spend, and he's made his.
