Thoughts on Mr. Knight?

I just awakened Mr. Knight the other day and decided to give him a shot. I was so pleasantly surprised by how smooth his playstyle feels and how rewarding his damage is. He also has a lot of utility in the ability to stop debuffs, counter miss and evade very quickly (and is very sustainable utility), and relies on sleep which no one is immune to. I ended up taking him to R4 and invested over 100 sigs into him. Really hope more people give him a shot and don't just rely on what they've heard. A lot of people think they need to punish heavies and specials with lights, and while that's nice for his damage, he definitely does NOT need to do that in any fight.

For sure! It's a lot more straightforward than you might think.

For general fights I just 5 hit combo until my moon phase is about 2/3 to the next phase. Throw a sp1 so the moon phase changes DURING the special, this will put the opponent to sleep on the last hit of your special. Then walk up to the opponent, DO NOT DASH, you want to hit them with a light attack while they are sleeping to put your permanent injuries on the opponent. The more injury you have, the more utility you get. Punish heavies and specials (you can always punish with a medium and still get benefits) to keep your utility up and continue throwing sp1 while the moon phase is expiring. Light attacks will continuously do more damage and you'll constantly refresh your light proficiency if you follow this.

If you want to focus on preventing debuffs throughout the fight (such as fighting photon) make sure you parry a couple times in the beginning to get your tranquilizes. These tranquilizes will be kept up after you have a few injuries.

Just test out the rotation a bit and you'll get a good idea of how the abilities all interact! I recommend putting him into incursions since he's saga right now and has a 5 min cooldown. Great place to get constant practice against nodes and a variety of defenders. I hope this explanation wasn't too daunting and you give him a shot!

I tried him in duels vs photon and I do like his damage. Have to get used to his fighting style but he seems good to me. Not sure he can shrug anything though which is a good skill talent so will have to explore a bit more.

No, it just adds more sleep nodes, and an extra Injury debuff in BG. You ramp him up with SP1 and Light Enhanced hits, then pop him with Light hits. I’m having a lot of fun with Mr. Knight - he wrecks a lot of Science champs.

He can't shrug but he can tranquilize, so the debuffs just never apply to him

I can see a situation where that is a hindrance eg hazard shift which applys debuffs immediately but no champ will have it all 👍️

True, but he tranquilizes on parry so you don't need to hit them first. He isn't great against DOT though, the tranquilize is 35% againt non-damaging debuffs and only 10% on damaging debuffs.
