War Tile 3 Question

I am taking tile 3 in war currently, the defender is Yelena, with the Never back down and always forward nodes. My plan was to use Jean, build up neuroshock rebuffs, and let despair mastery (maxed out) reduce her regen effects by 100%. My thoughts were that by doing this I would build up force charges and thereby deal more damage and have it be a normal jean vs yelena fight while maintaining debuffs to prevent the regen effects.

However, despair just doesnt seem to be doing that at all so i am not gaining any force charges. I am not using the passive neuros, just the debuffs.

Can anyone tell me if im missing something with this fight as to why this strategy didnt work?

Despair maxes out at -100%, no matter how many debuffs you have you can't get over -100%. And nearly everyone runs the recovery mastery so you would only have decreased her healing to 15%. You need to use a petrify or spectre in addition to despair to reverse healing (or champs that have heal reversal in their kits like Nefaria or human torch).

Or on that node you can use a heal block champ. Warlock, viv etc.

Personally I would send a leader to that fight. Do a couple of LLL combos to get the heal reversal going and then just keep triggering the healing and watch her melt.
