Man, this Blade Battlegrounds Grind is Dreadful.

I'm not sure where everyone else is, but I started at like Silver 5 this season (I haven't played that mode in a while) and, at least for me, its just been this never ending stream of full R4, worst defenders or even Elders from that point, all the way to where I am currently at, which is Platinum 5.

I don't know if I've ever realized how much I do not enjoy this mode until now. After an hour of playing, I think only 15 actual minutes of it is playing, the rest is just waiting a screens. If you loose just once, your like not going to have any progress for that hour. Its really not a respectful use of anyones time. No shade if you like the mode, non at all, but please Kabam, please don't put future pieces in Battlegrounds. For anyone older or anyone who has broader responsibilities in life, this mode really asks you to throw your time away and thats the most valuable thing any of us actually have.

the time is the worst part, you are right you have to wait to find a match, wait to ban champs, wait to choose champs, wait to place defenders, wait for match to start, wait for match to end, wait to place new defenders…it just takes so long. You can go down an hour rabbit hole of BGs and come out the other end with zero progress. I think it's telling how many big accounts are found in the lower ranks because it just shows how many of the bigger accounts just dont play BGs.

I am in the same situation, started Silver and climbed to Platinum. I could not have said it better.

Not giving points to attackers health was actually a help in my case otherwise I would still be stuck at Gold. The problem is that we are facing many players with plenty of 7r4. Even if we were to wait until final week, such players still appear, which is why I got disenchanted last season and did not progress so started at Silver this season

Having finished this past weekend, it’s just a weird (and bad) meta.

The goal should be to get a broad swath of Summoners to participate. I’d like to think the team figured this would level the playing field a bit—by making veteran players with mid-sized accounts competitive with larger accounts and limiting the dimensions on which players competed. I’m guessing the rationale here was that making speed the only variable would equalize things in a fun way.

It didn’t.

Some of the issues: (1) suicides are an advantage, and not everyone has them or wants to spend for them; (2) matching huge accounts really depresses BGs participation by smaller accounts in a meta like this one; (3) smaller accounts opting out means larger vet accounts facing each other earlier and more often; (4) kamikaze playstyle that frequently produces results by razor-thin margins can be both demoralizing and frustrating.

I have my fair share of terrible matches. I’ve lost this season to someone with 10K less prestige than I have (mix of terrible drafting/playing by me and good old rotten RNG)—not a proud moment. This season I had few long streaks and more incremental grind, fewer forfeits and significantly more “throw the phone against the wall” moments.

I’d like to hope someone in the room when this meta was concocted played devil’s advocate and expressed the possibility that at least some of the issues outlined above might materialize this season.

If no one did, it might be time to shake up the team that decides these things.

I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. I'm in V5 and I have 24k prestige, constantly matching against those with 30k plus prestige, winning where I can with a mixture of luck and skill. I have to say as much as I am complaining about this season, it does have its pros. At least some of the more ridiculous defenders, eg cap britain that js make u take damage when u hit them can be countered easily now because who cares about the chip damage. Or pushing zola to sp2, it doesn't matter anymore.

The issue is just that when its just time, the biggest deciding factor is whose defender has more health, and its always my opponents. Its a skilless season, especially with some of the biggest counters to meta defenders like serpent and maestro not being usable. It might js be that im not teh best nico/spiral player, but because of little posion/rupture uptime, I can't really kill the serpent before 90 seconds, and am having to rely on just kushala to counter all the meta cosmics.

i completely agree, please keep stellar forged type pieces out of battle grounds. If you must include them, do it based on number of wins instead of getting to Gladiator Circuit. For me, I win one then lose 2. Those non sequential wins can go towards earning the SF piece and actually mean something.
