Beginner rifts worth doing??

The rewards for beginner and medium rifts are not very good... but opening crystals could possibly get you shards for harder ones.... so is there any reason for me to do beginner/medium rifts instead of opening crystals??

Completing beginner gives you 5k shards for medium and so on.

Doing the rifts is far better than opening the crystals.
