Third, the statement that “shards are already starting to show up in the log-in calendar rewards” is absolutely a statement that implies an ongoing availability. Personally, I don’t care whether they are giving out 5* shards every time I turn the game on or not; but that statement, even in a stand alone context, was meant to plant the seed that shards would be a part of giveaway rewards going forward. Why else suggest that something is “starting” if it just ends immediately? I’m “starting” to think Kabam didn’t really mean what they said about 5* availability. Finally, most of us are suckers for believing any puffery from the game team. This follows the usual course: promise of something good, something good gets provided with strings attached (e.g., requires spend, isn’t exactly what was promised, etc.), people argue semantics on the forums, something good gets a little easier to obtain, and ultimately something good becomes generally available without inordinate effort, albeit long after the excitement about something good has turned into bile. Have at it. Dr. Zola

Its hard to tell, but it seems like a good portion of the users on the forums heard "increased shards" and assumed they would get 1 or 2 5* champs a month quickly and have shards given to them for free or be able to earn them in very easy content. Don't care what you assume, they said it.

Have at it. Dr. Zola You misquoted. "shards are now available through Calendar Rewards" Now being the operative word. Not implying that they will be henceforth. They never comment on upcoming Calendars, unless it is a Special Event, or as with the case of the Grandmaster Calendar, which is an on-going occurrence. Reason being, the Calendar changes.

That isn’t the quote I was quoting. But since you mentioned it, I’ve noticed that “Karnak, Rogue, Quake, Phoenix, Ghost Rider and Dr. Voodoo can now be obtained from the 5-star crystal.” “Now” being the operative word I suppose? I’m now waiting on a response to tell me that “now” doesn’t mean “now” when I use it like that. Dr. Zola

That may be the game team explantion after the fact, but, apart from being involved in their discussions “then” (and by that I literally mean at the time and place the decision to put the shards in the calendar was discussed and made), you’re either just guessing or subscribing blindly to their stated rationale. That’s fine if you want to do that—but it hardly qualifies you to answer player concerns with the certainty you claim to have. Dr. Zola

That is not conjecture. Conjecture would be forming an opinion or conclusion on the basis of incomplete information. There is no such conclusion in my statement. The statement said that Shards were in the Calendar at that time. They have yet to mention the contents of upcoming Monthly Calendars. They certainly wouldn't do it elusively when making clarifying statements. If they had, the statement would be along the lines of "From now on....". They never said they would be in the Calendar from now on. What we have is high expectations because 6*s are being introduced and everyone wants to develop a Roster for them.
