King groot vs Liquid Courage

I’ve had a bit of a look, but can’t see anywhere where this has been discussed. My question is this;

How come King Groot fails to enact one of his passive abilities against liquid courage (poison).
Is it a bug or is it intentional programming by Kabam

To quote the champions passive description;
“Each time King Groot receives a Debuff, he shrugs it off after 0.5 seconds at the cost of 1 Fury Buff.”

Is it because LC deals “eternal poison”?
If so, why doesn’t it affect Agent Venom in the same way.

PS, please don’t nerf agent venom so that he can’t shrug it off, unnerf the king of the trees instead Kabam

King groot reduces the timer on a debuff agent venom has a 70% chance to completely shrug off a debuff

It might be because King Groot has to receive a debuff and suicides are on the champion instantly so he technically doesn't receive them while agent venom shrugs off any debuff so even when he starts with it he has a chance to shrug it off

But that doesn’t fit with the description in his bio, unless Kabam has worded it incorrectly

@Sungj I did think of that... but I’m hoping that it’s not the interpretation that Kabam has used. Also it’s not a percentage chance of the debuff being “shrugged off” it 100% chance after 0.5 seconds, seems more likely that KG should benefit.

Ok, well that could be the way it is interpreted. So AV, get’s one shot at random to clear a debuff? (Albeit with only. 70% chance). But his opportunity must come after the poison is applied. KG misses out because his furies aren’t in place to remove the debuff before the poison is applied, but are applied after incurring the debuff. That makes the assumption that any debuff incurred during his cool down phase would not be removed once his fury cycle starts. I’ll have to test that out, anyone got any insight into whether an existing debuff remains after switching to fury cycle?

So say for instance you’re fighting king groot using voodoo or vice versa when voodoo places a poison on KG that would then begin a poison timer after .05 seconds if KG has a fury buff the poison buff would be shrugged off because the shrug operates on a timer. But since Liquid courage is a lasting debuff with NO timer it isn’t efffected by KG ability

I actually disagree with that Huluhula, it doesn’t say after 5% of the normal duration, it doesn’t say with 95% less duration, it says after 0.5 seconds is is shrugged off. So if we take it as worded, it wouldn’t matter if the debuff is meant to last 12 seconds or 3 minutes, the 0.5 seconds shouldn’t be affected by the duration of the debuff.

This is entirely false. It doesn’t matter if it’s timerless or not.

The fissure node places a 1% Armor break that’s permanent, no timer, but KG removes it after .5 seconds anyway (Just tested on the Rhino in road to lab 3.5).

Liquid Courage isn’t removed because it’s placed before KG gets any furies, that’s why he doesn’t shrug it off.

Exactly but the debuff would need to operate on some sort of timer of .05 seconds. since liquid courage has no timer because it is as you put it an “eternal poison” there is no timer to base it being active for .05 seconds so it won’t be shrugged off and does say after .05 second if we base it off what you quoted.

So then is there a timer between when debuffs can and can’t be shrugged off? Cause this would imply that he is starting the fight with armor break and there for wouldn’t/shouldn’t be able to shrug it off either

KG will shrug off any debuff that isn’t passive after .5 seconds as long as he has a fury charge and it’s placed while he has it (Unless AA neurotoxin is involved, or something similar).

Fissure node applies on hit, which is when KG has fury stacks.

Liquid Courage is applied before KG has fury stacks, which is why it isn’t removed.

But I did some more digging, apparently it doesn’t work on the cold snap that iceman puts on at the start of a fight either, so it’s looking more like an intentional thing that Kabam has done
