6.2.6 Champion

Hi Kabam,

I know I'm not the first to write about this, and I'm sure I will not be the last. I've waited a long time to try 6.2.6, I've saved units, I've read, and watched videos. I'm a good enough player to get through the path and the first 90% of the Champions health. But that last 10% is impossible for me. I tried. No matter what I have, it doesn't work. Can't bait specials, or when I do, I can't dex away. It is an impossible hurdle for this player. And I now realize that this is the point where I can't progress further in the game. I can gain champs, I can help my alliance, but I can't move forward in the story. And that's frustrating. Frustrating enough that I'm considering setting the game aside after 6 years.

I know you dropped the charges from 5 to 3, and that may have helped some players. Not me. I don't mind hard fights, or ones where you have to chip away at a champ. But this fight is so different from that. Its not skill, or experience, but a specific set of moves that you have to get perfectly correct or you're crushed. That blocks so much of your player base from moving forward.

Maybe time to move on,
R

OP's first post and it gets the first disagree. smh
@chaserobert12 It is a skill based fight and the more experience you gain, the easier it becomes. But, it is no means an easy fight that you can revive your way through. Practice duels every day. Or rank up someone like Thing or dragon man for that fight to cheese it. There are many videos of that in youtube. Sharing your roster in the forums can also help.

    How is it not skill?

Just wondering how many times you tried, I remeber I used more than 2000 units to practice and I managed with a R1 morningstar before the nerf

Also, you gotta keep practising and doing it again and again to get it down to how youtubers solo him. It's pretty much the first fight in the game that is skill based and you can't revive through it. That's why it feels so difficult.

I tried it with guardian and on my first try got 2 dexes off after multiple tries. Only took 2 revives on final 10% but it wasnt that bad. I actually want to try it prenerf for the feel

    I also used duped Guardian

I hope one day we get a pre-nerf champion as a novelty standalone boss like last summer. That’s one was great but it was too short. Defo my favourite fight in mcoc, love smashing into him with shulk.

@chaserobert12 you gotta practice in those duels. Dashing in and dexing the last headbutt could be a tactic as it’s almost impossible not to get the dex if you don’t get hit as spacing isn’t an issue. You can, in duels, get him in the corner and heavy attack him to bait special (rather than dexing to bait) then when you attempt the dex in his special you can verify it worked by gaining the precision buff. Use shehulk to practice the timings as her heavy will stop him going unstoppable and her furies taunt his specials making it all pretty easy.

Sorc supreme works like a charm, use her, she can pretty much solo it and intercept btw

Sorry, but the sentence is very contradictory to itself. You say it is not based on skill. But follow by explaining that you have to do something perfectly. That IS a skill. It is just a skill you are not good enough at yet.
I understand it can be frustrating if you cannot move on because of a single boss. But if you duel enough Champions and practise their specials it is not THAT hard. Take a very high block prof champion and just let yourself get hit (while blocked) on the first part of the special. And dex the very last hit.
I did it that way back when he hit way harder, and had 5 charges. With the heimdall synergy I was able to do it.
And trust me. If I can do it, any player can learn how to. Because I am far from an elite player.

The original was 3 times harder at least. Go back and take your lumps and bruises like we all had to and beat him. I would suggest Thing or CapIW for the last 10%. They make it virtually a joke.

    You. Can. Do. This!

I believe in you, and you will be a better player for it. Just keep practicing.

I feel your pain but it shouldn't be changed. You just have to be really quick on your feet and practice over and over and over again. What I did was I kept running the path and the champion because I could 1 shot his other phases, and tried to dex his specials with my champs. I got it in 2 runs and I think you can do equally as well if you practice! You can also practice on a dual target

I’m not compare you with a NYCC Champion, but let’s see how a pro player with skill can kill the pre-nerfed Champions, with a post nerfed Shehulk and not even at r5. If this is not skill, I don’t know what to say.

It's a fight you can think your way through, tbh. If you're just reviving and throwing yourself at it, it's like hitting your head off a brick wall. You can parry him and you can intercept him, so all you need to really watch for is his unstoppable.

Ultimately, if you find the timing difficult, take a champ with high block proficiency and practice dodging the last hit of sp1. Save your sp3 for when the charges are gone and - *boom* - the fight's over. I read/watched a ton of tutorials before even trying the fight and it still took a fair few *ahem* "practice" revives.

I am a scrub, and I did it, so you can, too. Just duel The Champion as often as you can and get that dex timing down.

    You'll get it, no worries.

you should try using cap IW. i beat pre-nerf champion by taking on full combos except the last hit. it was 5 indestructible charges when i did it so i imagine you would still have a good chunk of health if you missed the dex once/twice.

if you don’t have cap iw or other high block proficiency champs. go on youtube and watch youtubers’ champion fight, pause the video, observe the spacing between your champ and champion. take a ruler, measure it. practice duels and make sure you space yourself away at the same length. you can also draw lines on your phone. so when you dex back at the start of the combo, you should be at the right place during the last hit of the combo for you to remove the charges

Well I mean its really easy with shulk apart from the last 10% but yeah I could it with 5 charges

I was stone walled on this fight for about 6 months as well but eventually through practice and the nerf was able to get past him with CAIW. Keep at it and you’ll get there

I have done my initial clearance pre nerf, and to be honest the fight back then was really difficult and annoyning.
After nerf, the attack and block penetration reduction, have made the fight much easier.
While exploring, I tried many different champs to do the fight.
SS works exceptionally good, and despite I run 0/5 mystic dispersion, I soloed the fight three times with my last attempt on prove yourself node ended at 83% health.
Three charges aren’t a lot really. Just hold block and dex out the header if you are not good at creating the appropriate space to dex his sp1 without blocking.
Though, despite the fact now is not hard, many people can still road blocked.
Making an easy path with no intestructible charges, might be a good change, to avoid banning non skilled players from further story progression.
At least if someone is not skilled enough, would still be able to get around the completion, by buying his way through.
In my opinion, this wouldn’t discourage these players and make them quit 🙂
