Drive to a Million Facebook Likes!

Greetings Summoners!

The Official Marvel Contest of Champions Facebook Page has recently surpassed 750,000 Likes on Facebook! We’re celebrating by sending you all a few helpful items, and a Premium Hero Crystal.

While 750,000 Likes is pretty great, the Grandmaster wants to reach even further! Join us in our Drive to 1 Million Likes by December 4th, and unlock some great celebration events! What do we have in mind? Take a look!

Choose which Champions you’d like included in a special summoners choice crystal!

We’ll be running some special polls very soon, in which we’ll ask all of you to choose the 2 Best Champions of each class! Then, we’ll add a 4-Star Version of the Top 12 (2 of each class) into a special crystal that will be available for only $1 USD!

Which Champions are eligible? Any champion that is included in a regular crystal that was released up until Morningstar. This means that the polls will not include Champions like Vision (Classic), Deadpool, Ultron (Classic), Thanos, Kang, Immortal Ironfist, Unstoppable Colossus, Punisher, Thor (Ragnarok), The Realm of Legends Champions, etc.

The Top 12 Champion Crystal polls will be open for voting from 11/20 (18:00:00 UTC) to 11/27 (18:00:00 UTC), visit the Marvel Contest of Champions Facebook page for more information later. (http://www.facebook.com/MarvelContestofChampions).

The Million Made Arena

We’ll run a special 7-Day, 1-Star and 2-Star Champion arena, with lots of 5-Star Shards in the Milestone Rewards! Can you make it to 1 million points and score yourself 10,000 5-Star Shards?

We’ll be upping the points awarded from 1-Star and 2-Star Champions for this special arena, and it will take approximately 500 fights to collect all of the Milestones. Not able to hit all of them? Don’t worry! The 10,000 Shards are spread among all of the Milestones. Collect what you can!

Collector Crystal!

We’ll be bringing back the Collector Crystal for purchase! This Crystal will contain 1 and 2-Star Champions that you can use to fill your collection, and use them in The Million Made arena.

This Crystal contains a whole slew of 2-Star Champions that are not normally available in the Daily Crystal or Premium Hero Crystals! Get them while you can!

Q&A:

Q: Is this event only for English speaking players? I didn’t receive a message about it in game, but my friend did.
A: Absolutely not! This event, and all of the cool stuff that can be unlocked is for everybody! Because our Facebook page and all of its contents are in English, we chose to only send the message out to players that play in English. This doesn’t mean that everybody isn’t welcome to take part.

Q: Does the Collector Crystal include every Champion as a 2-Star Version?
A: Not every Champion in the game has a 2-Star Version created for them, so there are a few that won’t be included.

Q: Does the Collector Crystal include the 1-Star Spider-Man that I sold?
A: Yes! This is your chance to reclaim any of the Champions that you collected at the beginning of your journey in the Battlerealm! (1-Star Spider-Man, Wolverine, or Ironman)

Deadline beginning of Dec 4 or end of day?

Waiting for a mod to come on and say "We can still hit the target. Only need 170,000+ Likes in the next several hours."

750k in 3 years. 75k in 2 weeks. Now 170k in 12 hours.

The amount of information on here that is swirling seems extensive. Netmarble/Kabam most likely decided if they could increase the amount of likes they have on their official facebook page, it would benefit their business. Seems straight forward enough. But how to do that? They decided to put an incentive on their player base to help them.

1. I've seen arguments made that they should advertise on their own and not rely on their customer base to do this for them. They do advertise, mostly online but not always. The biggest recent one I remember is New York Comic Con.

2. There are statements that we should get the rewards even if we don't meet the timeline and number of likes. This is ultimately up to Kabam, but you'd have to admit not everyone believes we should be entitled to rewards we did not earn. It would be nice for sure, but diving deeper into this would open a whole new can of worms.

3. The most logical, at least to me, arguments I've seen is about the goal being unreasonable, or at least should have had milestones achievable on the way. However I would suggest that the goal not being met in its entirety is likely due to how enticing the prize is. While I don't have the data to prove it (Kabam does

) I'm going to suggest that quite of few people play MCOC and don't grind arena. The idea of doing 500 fights in a week seems unappealing to say the least, thus no need to like the page because they wouldn't get the reward(s) anyways. You up the prize though, different story. Depends how badly Kabam wants those million likes.

4. Plenty of people are saying they are going to "un" like the page if they don't get the promised rewards (keeping in mind the requirement(s) for getting rewards hasn't been met based on what Kabam outlined). First off of course you can unlike the page. But lets take a step back and see what is really being said here. Kabam is a business. They offer a product and services hoping that what they offer people will like and purchase. The more people that buy that product or service, the more capitol they have to re-invest in the game, hire more employees, improve quality assurance, develop new content, or really just do with it what they want. So if you are wanting to invest in this service, want to see it succeed, and believe it can succeed (important criteria when deciding where to put your money) you would be doing yourself a favor by liking the page. Again, this is based on the premise that facebook likes will lead to increased growth for Kabam. The idea that they can or should provide these services for basically no cost just won't hold water.

5. Lastly, especially since I'm sure I'm just rambling at this point, is all these posts about how Kabam isn't saying anything. They must not care. Nothing said from Kabam must mean X. Look, from what little time I spend on the forum here it looks to me like the player base loves to tear apart anything said or done by Kabam on the forum. We, the player base, has made it such a liability for a Kabam employee to say anything on the forum that they have to so extensively vet and verify ANY statement to the point where it is hard to have a simple conversation.

They didn’t in the first place that’s why they put out such high rewards as they never thought we would do it, we basically gave them free marketing

Personally going to dislike the page if we aren't getting anything now. Shouldn't have even brought it up. Took 3 years to get 750k and thought they could push it to a million in less than a month. Plus the game has over 50M downloads, but had to bribe for likes instead of making a better product.

If you didn’t like the page before, please reconsider after this nice move by Kabam.

There were a lot of naysayers out there that Kabam proved wrong on this one, me included.

One post that i read was Mike told someone that they have everything planned out for the rest of the year. So that makes me wonder if they planned this. and if they did then that means that to stay on schedule they would have to do it. Plus if we don't make it people will be very mad for tantalizing them

I made an initial error regarding what sort of Likes the campaign was asking for, which I acknowledged. Beyond that, I stand by everything else I said about the campaign, which mostly revolved around the fact that you cannot extrapolate how many likes a Facebook campaign can generate based solely on the historical amount of Likes. I said that then, I say that now.

However, I also presumed that Kabam would have some sort of integrated advertising plan associated with this drive, which I also mentioned is how most companies do this kind of thing. That didn't happen, but that also wasn't an error in reasoning. That was overestimating Kabam's social media director.
