i'd rather an ascension system than a new rarity so soon. what content exactly would make it even necessary? there's no 6 star rank 5 champs anytime soon so this makes little sense to go for a new rarity.

Not happy to see that something that will likely be heavily monetized will be giving people an edge over others. Hated the idea of relics since first announced. This game does not need that, only serve to widen the gap for ftp and the whales, and to add an extra layer of nonsense and confusion.
Add whatever you want to the game, it has to continue to grow or be stagnant. I'm somewhat excited about the relics and ascension. I'll consider whether or not I like the new additions only if you can go through 2 months of new content being entered into the contest w/o bugs. If not, then I fully expect all the new additions to just cause more issues. I won't even ask about fixing the dropped inputs, etc. I think I have given up on that.
I think they should focus on the ascension mechanic first, and honestly if kabam is thinking about introducing 7* why not give us the option to rank up rarity as well, 4* be able to rank up to 6* for example.
I’m sure we always knew 7*s were coming, which is fine. Relic and Ascension however I am not a fan of. I’ve seen similar systems input into other mobile games( Netmarbles 7DS) and it failed badly. I could also imagine the pay wall created here. IMO the whole point of a 6* and now 7* was to get the ascended version of your champ to utilize them better.
I would rather MCOC develop an entirely new game with an engine that isn't broken and have to start everything all over rather than start collecting 7*s.
Two Questions: 1. Ascension doesn't turn our 6* into a 7* correct? From the post it sounds like it just powers up the 6* but won't actually "Ascend" them to the next star rarity, which IMO is a huge missed opportunity to remove the blow of having to start collecting a whole new set of champs.
2. Is the 7* pool going to be limited early on where almost all the champs are "average" or below with only a few good pulls, like the 6* pool was initially? The ramp up to having useful 6* being accessible took way to long. For months on end the majority of 6* pulls were useless, please don't repeat that mistake.
So, Battleground, Relics and 7* - is this an episode of "how to ruin something very fast?"
I remember the shitstorm when 6*-shards were available before there was a 5*R5-possibility and Kabam said, that this was a huge mistake and that this will never happen again. And now? No R5 6* possible and hey what is announced? 7*... fool me ones, shame on you, fool me twice...
Who do you think is really looking forward for another grinding for worthy Champs and Dupes and Sigs? No one.
Besides the fact that Kabam said, that there will be no 7* if feel very upset now. Playing from the start and really loving this game, but the way it goes. No, big No.
Personally I wouldn't even conceive of adding 7-stars before the first 100 6* rank 5 appear in game. And we're at least 9 months away from that. So the absolute earliest date I believe would be appropriate is Fall 2023. Preferable date for me would be the 9th anniversary in December, not Spring. Although given Kabam's promise record...
