Pausing method in BG? 🙄

Idk how this is still a thing. If you pause a fight because you can't win. You should lose all your champs health at the end. So you only score the points for the health you took off the defending champ. Besides getting points for all your champs remaining health and the missing health from the defender. It's a form of exploiting the game and needs to be fixed.

I agree. It's not within the realm of fair play. The upside is that becomes less and less effective as you go up because 15k isn't going to win.

It's so funny how the people who disagree with fixing such an obvious problem never want to actually back it up with reasoning. The pause method is dumb and it's insane that it hasn't been taken care of yet. There are so many ways to do it, but they just kinda chose none

It's not actually an effective strategy alot of the time it's completely fair because its rare that it actually works, you actually have to know when to do it it's not just pause = win, brain dead playstyle that you're making it out to be, plus alot of things are just out of the hand of the attacker

It's not fair at all, actually. We're rewarded for how we play comparative to how another Player plays. Not for sitting it out and defaulting Points. Essentially you're rewarding people for not playing.
Is it a widespread problem? Not likely. In terms of fair play, it's not under that column.

Other than the just pause the whole fight, it can also be employed if you push the opponent to 3 bars and prevent them from throwing jt

Why does it matter if it dosent actually cause wins or give anywhere close to the points you would need to win? Thats why its balanced even if the game wasnt as buggy as it is it would still be fine because its strategy, like i said you have to know when to use it, it dosent work 100% of the time or even 50%

That's the most typical justification to any unfair advantage. "The game is buggy." If a Player is trying their hardest, regardless of whether they can pass 15k or not, and the other Player is defaulting by staying on Pause, they don't deserve the Win. We deserve Rewards for performance. Not faking the system out.

No. There can be situations where both are forced into a unwinnable matchup like maw vs Glaive or some mystic vs torch. And when that happens if they pause and win and the other player doesn't that's scummy

its interesting that when there is cheese that is pro player (stun locks for example)... its considered fun.

But if there is a chance that said cheese can be used against you... it isn't.

I can't say I like it being there... but so long as it is a valid thing, it is a strategy that both players have access to. If you decide not to pause, and get your clocked clean... did you really do more than the guy who cowered behind the pause button?

A rework of points so that here is exact points for a KO (vs. someone who only did 99% but faster), or subtracting points for "timed paused"... making it available in a pinch, but not something that really rewards you... seems like a good thing to do... but leaving it as is... is also valid.

I agree that pausing is unsportsmanlike, and it would be nice if steps were taken to negate that. However, it is a more complicated problem than it appears. The game can pause for many reasons, only one of which is the player manually pausing. Your device's OS can also cause the game to pause as it is put into the background. This can be triggered by minimizing the app, receiving a phone call, or even a low battery warning. Finding a solution that punishes manual pausing, while still allowing some leniency for legitimate pauses is important.

Every meta will have an average summoner score and standard deviation. The lower that average is and the higher that variation is, the more likely a pause flips a round.

The more likely power gain pushes champs to special 3, the more likely pausing is to matter. Same thing for nodes like encroaching stun where you have a clear imminent collapse at your doorstep.

That’s already happening.
The person who pauses loses time bonus for each second that passed during pause.
Current VT meta is a nuke one.
I can’t think of anyone pause the game and expect to win with 15k points 🤷‍♂️
In most of my matches this season whoever scored below 50k points lost, heck even I lost a match with 54k points.
As long as nodes are easy and fast and scoring averages above 20k points, pausing “tactics” is useless and not a big problem to worry about.
But I will agree that at metas like electric defence, where players scored an average of around 15k points, pause was a somewhat efficient tactics.
But even then, good and with meta appropriate deck players , scored above 15k points and were happy to face someone who paused the fight, to get the free win 😉

Oh really?
Pausing against Nick is same as fighting against an unawakened Nick as you can just get him to 5-6% and get 28k points+ the points for your health
Against hype you can just do as much dmg as you can as long as he is cooperative and as soon as he reaches an sp3 you can just pause
If you get hit by a special then you can just pause and avoid the dmg it would have dealt in its full duration
Tell me how is this isn't taking advantage of a mechanic

Imo, this is a relatively small problem, and given the bugs that already plague BGs, are you willing to risk introducing the significant possibility of further bugs?

I didnt say it wasnt taking advantage of a mechanic...? I said it was fair, also you're proving one of my points by saying "as long as he is cooporative" the a.i does whatever it wants sometimes why should the player be punished for something thats wrong with the game?

What free wins? Its anything but free , its not something you can pull willy nilly, it takes a brain
It's easy to say "you're just putting your phone down" but what free wins? How often do you actually win from pausing? When you do lose can you argue that you shouldve won? I mean you both have access to it... maybe if your placement was better you wouldnt have to worry about a player that scored low beating you, in battlegrounds every choice matters, its a game of strategy.

Just because both people have access to it, doesn’t make it fair or a legit strategy. Something doesn’t automatically become fair because you can only win some times with it. You still have the possibility to win doing it, especially depending on the meta. The excuse that everyone can pause so that makes it ok is not a viable excuse and does not work in other areas of life or game as well. I don’t do BG because of other reasons, but I agree with the people who think this is an issue that should be worked on.

Pausing shouldn’t be a strategy and shouldn’t be a way to win. Pausing is a cowards or lazy tactic in my mind and shouldn’t be something to see as a winning Strat in a competitive game mode

There are alot of things that dont work in other areas of life so that dosent really say much.
