Daily Proving Grounds - Expert quests

Is it me, or did the Expert level quests get a lot harder? Each Expert quest has three (I think) paths to the finish; up until about two weeks ago, I could fight through the easy and medium paths without any problem. I would finish with all five of my team members active and in good condition. But now, I lose 1 or 2 members on the easy path, and on the medium path I just completed, I had to revive 8 team members to complete the quest. My team hasn't changed, except for maybe getting slightly higher ratings (my team has 2x 5-stars & 3x 4-stars, and they all hover around the 3,000 mark, +/- 150 or so).

I never had so much trouble as I do now, so I have to ask if Kabam upped the difficulty setting. Has anyone else noticed this?

I thought that bug made the monthly quest harder than normal. At least that was how I read that in-game message that came with a bunch of power-ups as compensation.

Huh. Interesting that the easier mode could have been the exception instead of the rule. I hadn't played the Proving Grounds quests in a while, so I thought they were always that easy.

What kind of team do you have? If you have a weaker team than mine but still win easily, maybe I am bad at it.

But I have a mix of 4- and 5-stars with a 15K total score (well above the quest's 11,250 recommendation), so I'm pretty sure it's not me.

It's where its supposed to be now. It was way easy do to because of that bug. When they changed it from every other day to everyday they introduced a bug. On the bright side they reduced the energy. Not sure why you are having a problem.

You made it through the daily Proving Grounds quests with those teams? C'mon, that's not even believable.

"Every other day"? Sorry, you lost me there. What do you mean by that?

Every other day are the Expert Class Catalyst quests.

You'd be better off fighting with high ranked (3/30 or 4/40) duped 4*s. Try using power control champs or champs that do a lot of damage over time.

There are basic and class catalyst special event quests that come out daily.

    The expert basic refreshes daily.

The expert class refreshes EVERY OTHER DAY.

He's talking oranges, you're talking apples. Hope that helps with the confusion.

Yes, I agree that this became harder. I used to be able to clear through the difficult path using just the automatic fighting AI including the boss. Now I actually have to fight. But I suppose that it's the right thing to do. Why else would it be difficult level on expert mode if you can just breeze through it.

I saw your champs and you will need a lot of skill to clear expert level difficult lane. I'm running on a very strong team as it stands and if I'm not careful, I could still end up dying on the final boss. No need for revives but months ago I could use AI for 100% of Expert. Now AI only works on the easy lane.

I'm assuming your talking about the daily expert proving grounds. To get t4b shards. It used to start every other day for expert. It's daily now. When they went to daily it got much easier, that was a bug. It's back to normal now. Honestly you should be able to clear the middle path with maxed 3 stars, don't mean to sound like a jerk saying that. To answer your question it did get more difficult but it wasn't meant to be that easy.

Okay, I just lost my entire team (including having to revive 3 champions) playing on the Proving Grounds - Expert quest, on the easy path.

That is too hard. Dial back the difficulty a few notches, Kabam.

Your masteries might need work. I know people who beat the hardest path using 3*s.

Also you need to join an alliance. An active alliance in AQ will help you get the AQ crystals that contain a lot of the t4 catalyst frags I am guessing you desire. The expert proving grounds is a pretty big waste of energy when content like last month was out.

You need to use a champ with bleed or poison and preferably one that also has regen. Wolverine, X23, duped SW, or Voodoo would be better options. Magik would be good for power control and keeping them from using their third special. But otherwise this team leaves a lot to desire. Not a very good team for questing honestly.

Something sounds screwy when a team of 3-stars > a team of 4- and 5-stars, just because they're the right 3-stars. Shouldn't my team's stats count for something?

Making a team roster into an exact science makes the game a lot less fun. 2 of my champions are at the highest available rank, and the other 3 are just one step down. That should be more than enough to do well, and not get crushed in a quest.

If it’s too difficult for you then it most likely too early for you to “want” to complete it.

Don’t be a crybaby asking for things to be “dialed down” just so you can complete it.

There is nothing screwy to it.

What you say would be true if all champs were created equal, but they are not. Look at arena scores for 4* basic champions when they repeat. What can you see from that? That some champions are far more useful for certain content than other champs. The champs you have are decent, but they are not great champs for harder content questing. A duped 3* Wolverine, a duped 3* Blade, a duped 3* Ghost Rider, a duped 3* Voodoo...you get the idea. Those champs even at a max rank of 4/40 are better than a 2/20 4* or 1/25 5*. I understand in your mind it may take the fun out of it, but pull a god tier champ and then you will see what real fun is.

The recommend rating for the Expert quest is 11,250. Mine is 15K+

So, no, I'm not being a "crybaby".

My team rating exceeded the recommended rating in act 5, but I still had to revive several champs, make act 5 easier too while you're at it! *sarcasm*

Hate to say but it's not to difficult. I could complete it with your champs just fine and I'm just an okay player. I don't mean that in a bad way. Just keep trying and in time you'll walk through it. When I started the proving grounds all I could finish was the easy path. Best of luck.

I disagree. My team may not be the best as far as the abilities they have or how they boost each other, but I exceed the recommended rating by a decent margin - and I still struggled. If your team's lineup matters more than the recommended rating, why isn't the roster used as a gauge of how ready your team is for the quest?

My point is, recommended rating seems to be the main standard for how ready a team is for the quests. My team clears the bar by a good margin, yet I'm having difficulty. So either the recommended rating needs to be raised to reflect the quest's actual difficulty, or the difficulty needs to be lowered to be brought into line with the recommended rating.

I took the same champs you posted but in maxed 3* and cleared the middle lane without using any items. Only lost one champ. Your champs are quite able to make it through the map without huge difficulty. Not sure what else to say. I would like to help but not sure how.

Rating is half the equation. Player skill is the other half. The rating is a reasonable recommendation, but different players can have wildly different skill levels. PI rating is also crude, attempting to distill several different attributes about champions into a single number. That single number cannot encapsulate the full strengths and weaknesses about every single team.

You are in effect trying to rate rock-paper-scissors. You can't give rock a higher rating because it beats scissors, because then what rating do you give paper?

Plus, I'm pretty sure I could beat at least the medium path in the expert proving grounds with 3* versions of your entire team. Its not the strongest team in the world but honestly 4* Magik alone should be able to solo the easy path without significant difficulty.
