What’s happening with AI?

The opponent dash speed is also very high at times. The larger opponents are clipping my dash backs almost everytime. They catch up to my dash back before I can light intercept or block and it has been happening frequently now. I am experiencing this against Onslaughts, Maestros and Things mostly.

Has anyone noticed that the AI can stitch together medium, light combos incredibly fast at times? Not always but some of their intercepts I find myself thinking that isn’t normal. After playing pretty heavily for two years I think I have memorized the pace in which we can throw MLLM. There are moments with the AI where I think, no way can I do that.

What boggles the mind is that this can be unintentional. I would assume there are actual variables that control these things. I can’t imagine this is some random variable that no one can find to tune down.

This is actually very common for long-lived codebases. It's called "tech debt". I'm quite confident that it's not intentional.

There probably isn't a single variable to "tune down". Instead, these behavioral changes are probably caused by unexpected interactions between old AI code and newer game code that the old AI wasn't designed for.

At this point IDC. You can ban me all you want. This AI and all modes are FUBAR. Ive never played a game that its developer is so ignorant to all these issues and fails to deliver its dam product. Is too much BS. Stop spending money on these fools!

Hey all, I see your post. Let me get this in front of the game team as I know they're also investigating similar reports.

You and everyone know this has been an ongoing issue. Some spend more money than others, so why theres no plan at least? How much or many receipts Kabam needs? As a company, how is this good marketing? Customer svc? Transparent?

    Bad Ai

Honestly the ai is feels like it’s in such a bad place. I don’t what the hell to do in fights anymore. The actions I intuitively take that used to come off now end up with me getting side stepped, parried, countered, generally just taking damage. So now I’m second guessing everything, when to attack when not to attack. The defender just stands in turtle mode, you have to do something but the super reaction time ultimately ends up with me taking damage. I’ve gotten my 5k of points in BG and I’m now done. The game at the point in time is feels fundamentally broken and I actively dislike playing it at the moment. I appreciate there maybe ideas/plans/projects to fix this issue but given the vagueness around the fix I can’t see this being resolved in the next 0-3 months. So this is the frustration of continuing to play a game that’s broken and leading to wasting elders marks, revives, health pots to clear content.

I was thinking that it might have something to do with the coding.

I hope some kabams peeps acknowledge this nonsense interaction that happens with Aegon or Kingpin. Enemies can somehow hit us while unstoppable and dash back to avoid getting hit . It sure seems like it’s related to the crazy AI issues everyone’s been talking about. This flat out shouldn’t happen. This is from today in AQ

    https://youtu.be/URRdpnfklrU?si=Wc61_gmHURXPNeFY

This has been happening since March/April and was reported in the thread below with various vids. Issue continues to be ignored.

    https://forums.playcontestofchampions.com/en/discussion/363826/aegon-is-bugged-opponent-gets-hit-but-evade-when-heavy-unstoppable#latest

If Kabam mods are reading all our posts , is there a reason why this video was ignored (again)? Is this AI related or something else? When will it be acknowledged and fixed? It was reported 1/2 a year ago now !!

For all the talk about better communication, it’s still the same as it’s been for the last few years

They continue to treat the playerbase like this because the playerbase continues to play, and many still pay. We do so because we're hooked to the game - even though they keep hypercharging the AI to mess with our gameplay, we get our wins/rewards here and there, and that keeps us interested.

Play if you like but stop paying them. They take our time and money and then mess with us. So treat them the same way. Play their game but don't spend money. They'll either shut down or they (and the AI) will start behaving. And I'm good with either.

You're right. The player base plays because it loves this game. It has created a strong bond with this game over the years. I am not a big spender on this game. I only spend once in a while where it felt the return on investment was worthy enough and even that is bloated created sense of value considering we don't actually get anything. It is all "game economy" which heavily runs on FOMO or some form of it. Because even if someone counters the FOMO argument with "you don't have to do it," there is still a fear of being left behind. The gap becomes a chasm really fast and I learned that during last year's July 4th offers which propelled those that bought the deals way ahead of everyone who didn't or didn't fully go out.

The sales, deals and offers are getting ridiculous by the day. Where you could buy all the major units sales offers for 15k units at a time plus 3k for the bonus has now become 36k. This basically means you either grind the heck out of arena and the game (i.e. put all your time in it) or you spend. Someone will counter with yeah but Kabam is generous enough to give you 390 units for free in double tracks! Are you really telling me 390 units is the same as 18k units? PLEASE!

The greed doesn't just stop there. Look at the offers right now. $500 for a 7 star. Wow! People will buy it and these offers will keep coming. Fine keep the game running. Bring out these offers. But can you use that money towards fixing the game at least?

I read somewhere someone put a comparison of what you can buy with $500. Let me tell you the return on investment doesn't come close at all!

Also I wish Kabam stopped with locking entries (entries available for the full month to each week to now lock by day; what's next? By hour?), spreading events across the whole month, etc. I want to play at my pace. Not be dictated how to play. This is supposed to be a pass time. Not life. Everyone has their priorities in life. But if I don't play at the dictated pace, I will be left behind

I'm not spending on this game anymore. I will play it but only because of the past 9 years that I have put into a game that I love.

They have top men looking at these issues. TOP...MEN!

Maybe I am just missing it but I don't see most of the AI related issues observed by the player base on the new Trello board.

In the middle of your heavy is the worst. Not even like in between hits…but like quite literally as the second hit is already registering and making contact
