are you a coward in battlegrounds?

startropicsstartropics Member Posts: 1,094 ★★★★
i am. i never test my ceiling and back out after a few losses and settle for a rank that i know is probably below my skills and roster potential.

all the good battlegrounds players put in the work, study the meta, the champs, the kits, then put in 150+ GC matches but not me. i barely learn the champs, farm a bunch like a wuss, then end the season with a 45-5 record in GC. every season.

i don't pretend to be great and know i'm a bit of scrub but i don't know why i do this. scared of losing? scared of losing rank last minute? not sure.

have any of you stopped caring about rewards and just tested your limits? what helped you do that?

What an interesting way of starting a good faith conversation...🤡

it is a good faith conversation and i'm poking fun at myself. try not to take it too seriously.
It should be "am I a coward in BGs" then...

this might be an unofficial support group for BG scrubs who are too chicken to test themselves and the first step of improving is admitting it. don't get too cranky mr serious.
Well I don't push and its not because I am a coward, the rewards for climbing are subpar...
So yes you are a coward, I am not
Btw I am not being serious, its just that it's not funny...

Ha! I think it’s a fun topic — obviously, the OP is a very good player. But there is some interesting stuff woven into the post, because honestly, BGs do kinda test if you have a thick skin.

I try to have fun with it, because I am not the best player in the game. But I do put in the work to understand the kits and nodes, so I usually try to “hang in there.”

Sometimes, it’s frustrating when you get absolutely worked. But at the same time, I definitely have gotten bettter at fighting some characters who are super-annoying, and that has helped me in other places in the game.

Also, some people who have fought me the last two seasons have absolutely seen me in there with Sentry, and he has won a few matches, including one on defense, on the Victory Track!

I didn't even know that this was possible.

"The one who does not test his limits, do not deserve fruits of GC."
    THE Valiant.

(GC rewards are ass anyways, good on you for not bothering with it)

gotta stop you right there. a good chunk of the 45-5 is from farming against smaller rosters, and i usually finish in arcane

LOL Higher than I ever have — not ashamed to admit that I just don’t get that high

    One and done in GC.

    Juice aint worth the squeeze.

Too time consuming to take it seriously.
The long wait for matchmaking ( mostly GC ),..and the often drawn out champion selection. I always make it to gladiator circuit and run a few more marches and by that point i feel as if i have spent all the time on it i’m willing to.
Especially wrapped up together with all the other areas of the game i spend my time in.

    GC one and done.

Same but since I always have plenty of elder marks & trophy tokens, so i usually wait until there's only 4 or 5 days left in season to keep those rewards from falling into the void

I don’t know if it’s cowardice or fatigue. 7M roster, 27K prestige, 15 r3s, I think. I wait until there’s about a week left in the season, hustle through VT as quickly as possible, hit 300K points and stop at some very low tier of GC. I still enjoy the mode but I don’t need more than a couple dozen matches per month.

Depends on the meta. Is it fun? Then yeah I'll push harder because I'm playing it for fun. If it isn't, then I just get my one GC match in and call it a season.

The difference in rewards between doing the minimum and doing the maximum is definitely not worth the squeeze.
Play it if you enjoy the competition, it can definitely be a fun mode, and somewhat "interactive" PvP.
But this whole notion of getting feelings hurt, ego shattered, rage baiting, etc. That is the definition of silliness.
None of it matters unless you had a good time, that is the only actual reward.

You're not a coward, @startropics . You just don't enjoy the competitive mode, and you're wise enough not to waste your recreational time playing a mode you don't enjoy. This is your free time, not your 2nd job.

There are many many others like you (including me).

I do BGs just for fun, for the BG tokens, and level rewards, and to see how certain champs perform. I'm non-competitive and don't care about anything else. My goal is to get to Vibranium I/Uru every season. Once there, I pretty much quit lol. I don't care about going further into GC. The nodes change and I'm not going to rank champs I normally don't use for that.

GC rewards hasn't changed since season 1 so why should anyone push so hard when the rewards doesn't justify the grind
If you spend the time playing arena, you get some units at least
You lose in battlegrounds, you don't get anything except points in BGS event

First day, I load my deck with 1 and 2 stars and speedrun the season start rewards.

Then I wait til 5 days left and smash it out until I complete my first match in GC and leave it alone
  • FeydRauthaFeydRautha Member Posts: 137 ★★
This happens to me every season: I make it to GC then I start facing opponents who either have a weaker roster or are not familiar with the GC nodes. I go to Arcane thinking damn this is the most far I have made, maybe I am a super skilled player. When the season starts coming to an end I start facing whales with full deck of R3s who show me my respectable place in Uru. :'(
  • Chief_WiggumChief_Wiggum Member Posts: 146
I'm a coward.. i hide behind my big deck!

mostly finish in M3 or quantum somewhere but i just don't have the time to do any "push".

Hit my alliance minimum then use energy every 2 days for some extra tokens if there's time left in the season.
I've never cared to even get out of Uru once I'm there.
