Karnak is Confused I think?

Why is he the only champion who requires different class catalysts to rank up?

Was this a failed attempt at something creative or just a bug that never got fixed?

At the very least, he should qualify as both a cosmic and skill given his requirements for rank up…

I bring this up, not because I like or even care about him, but in hopes it’s addressed if they ever update him. He’s clearly quite confused.

It's intentional. He is half cosmic and half skill and this is how kabam decided to show that in the game. He is also the only one they decided to do that for and it is probably for good reason.

Actually I don't understand why he's half cosmic, he is inhuman, but his abilities don't come from it, he learned everything

Medusa is full cosmic, so I imagine the design choice of way back then is inhumans are cosmic-based but like you said, his abilities came from what he learned not from his inhuman nature. However he is still inhuman. So his primary class is Skill and secondary would be cosmic. Keep in mind that some things used to be really jank back in the olden days of mcoc

Not a bug, it was an intentional reference to his backstory. He is an Inhuman (Cosmic), but he didn’t go through terregenesis, which is how Inhumans innate powers are unlocked. He got his entirely through his own physical and mental training, ultimately making him a Skill champion. He’s the first and only champion they have used this dual catalyst method on, but as it ended up mostly confusing players it has not been used since.

I think it’s a fun and unique thing for him! It doesn’t require any more total catalysts than any other champion

UC provides ISO of two classes when duped, but doesn’t require two classes to rank. So he’s got something along the same flavor, but not the same

I quite like it - I wish they'd gone a step further and made it part of an ability for Karnak so that he doesn't suffer from class disadvantage, or something.

Most don't have a lore or backstory reason behind it like Karnak does.
Although I do agree some champs are borderline in being some classes.

It was explained a few years back. It was more or less an experiment that didn't continue. It created a lot of confusion so Kabam decided not to continue with it. But as Cat said, it follows Karnacks history to its core.

Technically all inhumans could be classed as cosmic and either science or mystic depending on how you believe terrigen crystals work.

No, the catalysts required to rank are the same from when he was introduced.

You'd have to be able to go back to the OLD Forums (deleted), but there has been discussion about this back from nearly the very beginning with Karnak and his dual-class of Cats needed to Rankup.

(*note, at very low Rarity or Rank, when he only needs a single Cat, you wouldn’t see that, just when you took him higher where he started to need multiple Cats)

Similar to “why do a few champs require MORE ISO” (or is it Gold, or both ?) to Levelup (and/or Rankup) than all the rest do. (Ultron, Jugg, etc. the BIG ones, at that time). That had always been like that for those very select few champs.

Its so dumb lol. There are so many that could be considered half and half but he the only one they used it on. He inhuman just make him cosmic like the rest. Like either make him just cosmic or have more other champs like him.

As others said it was a test run and didnt go further also hes a skill champ so if they change him it be full skill catalysts

Why is it dumb? Is dumb that Ghost Rider finally got immunity incinerate? Why remove one champs lore but be ok with another?

Lol nope. I didn't start playing until 2019. Not sure if that's relevant or not. I ranked some 3*'s then moved on to 4*'s.

He got buffed around that time i believe lol and u still was like nah lol jokes honestly but if u ever was ranking for lab inhuman quest u would notice as he uses both
