Do you know how many ppl were actually telling the truth out of all of the ones that said they never cheated or did anything to violate tos and thats with new detection software bans 3 out of every person who said they never violated tos only 3 ppl that i have seen have ever had their bans reversed out of error so thats why the majority of the forums are disagreeing with this cause history is on our side and we have seen it all here now in those instances if i was wrong then i appologize so we shall see now if these ppl are right i hope they get their accounts back with some sort of comp but if you did something wrong then you know what the saying is

1) if they are confident in technology to detect this, why not as a first step just prevent any account the system is flagging from logging in using this rather than straight ban. Then at least someone can stream a video of them with a fresh play store install and still get the block (if they insist they are innocent)

You have to prevent people from using such tools, and you can't let them keep trying until they get it right.

The point is, you have to really be 100% confident with automatic ban detection or willing to also do any manual reviews that are needed after the ban, or you do risk a lot of reputational damage if there are any false bans in there. Again I don't know if there are any false bans. I would definitely rather though a few cheaters find a way around it, than have any innocent people get banned along with it. Blocking rather than banning would at least iron out any potential issues. A bank vault isn't really the same as there is a physical barrier involved and a defined list of people who should be able to access it.

And again I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on the other point, catching tos breakers who install from wrong source is great, but wouldn't any actual malicious software worth it's time mask it's source to appear from play store or whatever. If this technology existed with any confidence, there would be very little cheating/modified clients in any game.

That's what he said to do. Pop up a message saying, "You are using an unauthorized version of this game. Please delete it and download an authorized copy or you will not be allowed to log in." Now, I don't know if the software can check that in real time. But it would be a great solution if it could.

The announcement said they banned accounts that are using a version of the game that was not downloaded via apple, google, or Kabam as these are the only legitimate sources for the app

I guess what you're saying here is that the one bank robber that comes in to rob the vault; the police throws everyone in jail for 6 days. Basically, guilty until proven innocent? The issue is how does one do that? There isn't anything that regular folks can do on their end... How does one prove that they aren't using modded software, didn't download from approved sources, or not using third party software?

I know you're a smart person. Do you have any suggestions on how I or any normal person would go about proving their innocence's?

Yeah the bank vault analogy didn't really work. If you get caught trying to get into a bank vault, at least in most countries they would probably let you prove you are an employee with valid credentials and you are allowed to be there, so the system must be malfunctioning. You would get a chance to prove your innocence. In this situation you don't. That's why a block rather than ban so you can prove your client is legitimate would make more sense.

Then when you are really 100% confident maybe move to a ban, at no point did I say let people try to find ways to get past it forever.

As I said if everyone who has been banned turns out to be cheats or breaking TOS then great, well done, but if a few innocent people got caught in crossfire that's not on and they should be allowed to prove the system is failing for a legitimate game install.

And don't release things like this on a Friday, it's poor showing to release something then just disappear for the weekend, do it earlier in the week and own your actions.

Both apple and google allows you to view your purchase history and you can see the date and time you first installed the app and every time you’ve either updated or re installed it. So if you want to prove that you are using an authorized download it isn’t that hard. Took me all of 2 mins to google how to do it.

Both apple and google allows you to view your purchase history and you can see the date and time you first installed the app and every time you’ve either updated or re installed it. So if you want to prove that you are using an authorized download it isn’t that hard. Took me all of 2 mins to google how to do it.

To be fair, no screenshot will ever prove anything. Much like how people post on Instagram, it can all be fabricated to show people what you want them to see. You can have both the legitimate game and a modded version of it downloaded at the same time, so showing when you downloaded the legit version doesn't prove you didn't download another version elsewhere.

Fair point but for truly innocent people this could be helpful.

My guess is that since the app has a lot of permissions on your device including device settings the anti cheat software uses that to verify the source of the installation.

10,000 permanent bans and 2000 7 day bans. This week will be interesting. I hope no innocent summoner get caught in the ban wave with their new detection technology. There's only been a few times where Kabam banned the wrong summoners but those are rare. I'm glad the ban wave came back. Now time to enjoy the I'm innocent post and have a good laugh.

Kabam doesn't give a clear answer through support, nor a solution, it only tells you the official sites to download the game, insinuating that we downloaded it from an unofficial one when it's not like that. My answer is to download it from the Google Play Store. I use a Xiaomi Redmi 12 and it does come with the Google Play Store installed by default. That you don't want to admit that your anti-cheat system has errors is another thing. I don't use third-party applications to play, you are not more serious than me and anyone who says otherwise. I hope you send me through support the supposedly unofficial site where you say I downloaded the game.
