Fair Gaming Experience?

Matchmaking in battlegrounds is ridiculous. This game is rigged for sure. Diamond 5 fights are easy and I make it through to Diamond 3. Now all of a sudden, I have lost 20 fights in a row and can’t get past anything. Yet for some reason all the guys I get paired with are advancing to the next level. I am a mid level player at best, and to get paired against top tier players makes the game no fun. There needs to be weight classes based on a mix of prestige and overall strength. My account is at like 4.4 million overall with a 25 k prestige. My average fight is against players with 6-9 million overall with a 33 k prestige or better. My account has only 3 rank 4 champs yet the people I get paired with have 10-12 rank 4 champs. It is unrealistic for me to think I have a chance against larger accounts. Some might say it is a skill issue, but I say it’s a weight class issue. You can’t expect a 100 pound 12 year old to fight against a 6 foot 8 , 300 pound lineman from the NFL.
Is it too much to ask for a fair gaming experience?

I agree completely. My experience is very similar. Players have been complaining about this for at least three seasons in a row. You improve your deck every season, but somehow you almost never get matched with players at your level or lower. Victory Track is bursting with Legend and Veteran accounts, and the same crop of players that beat you last season now have 4 more R4 7* champs. Battlegrounds is where the rewards are that you need to contend with the rest of the content, so you don't feel like you have a choice. You wade in and hope that the RNG favors you in the selection phase. Kabam is working on their "little league" for Battlegrounds, which I hope will improve things.

I still mostly enjoy the game, but it's very frustrating knowing that you'll probably never catch up. If I knew that the game was like this, I honestly never would have started playing.

imagine being a new player and you have to learn all these new champions. I have been playing on and off for like 9 years and the game is becoming so complicated. It’s like you need a masters degree to play the game.
You made a great point about the AI and RnG. It happens often that if I am stronger than you the AI ramps up the difficulty on my side because I’m bigger. Same for the lower level guy, the AI will be more timid and laid back.
So many times I have been backed into a corner because the AI is over aggressive. It’s like when Kabam wants you to lose, you do and there is no way around it.
There is no way it is a fair gaming experience.

I would rather be at the top in the middle weight division than the bottom of the heavyweight struggling to survive.

Battlegrounds reminds me of the early days in the UFC. No rules - No restrictions -

ngl, I've never enjoyed BG's and go out of my way to avoid the mode entirely unless I'm forced to play a few games for some special event objective (like the Fantastic Force pings we just had.) No amount of rewards will make me play the mode with any level of consistency.

I'm not into PVP in ANY game - let alone one where you can pay to progress. In my subjective opinion, that's just not fun.

I just pretend the mode doesn't exist and accept that I'll never be caught up with the "end game" players.

I get it man, losing in a row is frustrating. But honestly, you’ll be surprised to see that every F2P is dealing with the same thing after J4 deals dropped. This isn’t even new, matchmaking has been like this for a while. I’m sitting at the same rating as you and also only have 3 R4s, yet I’m still getting paired with guys rocking 10+ R4s. But that doesn’t mean they auto-win…..many whales get screwed on rerolls and end up without proper counters, and that’s where you can steal wins. Don’t lose hope…..prestige and roster size matter, but they don’t guarantee victories.

Same here I facing opponents with 10-15+ r4s. How is this fair?

guys, it’s week one. Kabam has introduced the solo objectives with radiance to try and motivate big accounts to hustle to GC. Playing a lot of VT right now as a developing account… you’re rushing for the exit with a lot of massive accounts all at the same time. Things will be considerably easier in a week or two.

It's not really any consolation that big accounts are being incentivized with resources that make their accounts bigger and that they're often getting it by punching down. I'm seeing these accounts in Victory Track's Diamond tier. Why aren't they starting higher? Is the starting placement executed very poorly, or are they gaming the system by sitting around Victory Track and earning Summoner's Fest points by shooting fish in a barrel?

I'm with you, I always make the match, and sometimes those bigger accounts are unskilled and sometimes they are so skilled but you never know if don't do the match, I'm actually at vibranium 5, I only have one rank 4 and 11 rank 3, other are rank 2 and 6 star max ascendend.

the top 15 thousand players need to be auto enlisted into the GC. I made it to uru 4 last season and my rank was 36 thousand and change. If the big accounts automatically go to the GC it will help everyone

with everyone that reached GC starting the season in Diamond V, it can get very packed with larger accounts and make for tough matches at the start of a season.

Look I get the frustration but if you were the one who had 10 r4s and your matched with someone who had like 2-3 r4s, would you not take the win and think nothing of it? Are you gonna come to the forums and complain that it’s unfair because you’re going against smaller accounts? Likely no. That’s simply how the game mode works in its nature. When I get frustrated I take a break. I’d advise you to do the same.

The average person won’t be eligible to do that.

prestige is very important if you are a lower level player. Do you know what prestige represents? It is the average power of your top 5 champions. Now, 2/3 of my rank 4s are Not duped and therefore have a lower rating compared to being duped. Additionally, if you were to use a scale or a model, it would show you clearly how much of an impact it can have in the game. Going against stronger players is always difficult, but the difference between 25k and 30 k prestige is huge.

I think that it's definitely part of human nature to simply take advantage of that which benefits us. I also think that, despite the low-stakes, recreational nature of the game we're all playing, we should probably aspire to standards which elevate higher values (like good sportsmanship, parity, and a concept of fairness more agreeable than a free-for-all).

I enjoy Battlegrounds the most when I'm in a genuinely competitive match with someone working with a deck that is about as strong as my own. If I can beat someone who has a clear but not insurmountable advantage, I feel great. And if someone beats me by virtue of outplaying me (as opposed to via deck strength) I tip my hat and think well of them. On the other hand, if I wipe out someone who's got little chance, or if someone just sees my deck and forfeits, I don't get any satisfaction from that at all. I suppose that it offsets when that sort of thing happens to me, but I'm not pleased about it. I'm certainly not inclined to defend that sort of thing as optimal, and I'd like to think that I wouldn't do so even if it happened more often. I do understand the temptation for that, however.

I used to do this in GC until I realized the people I'm giving free wins to probably will lose them over the next two matches.

Its definitely who has the most money not skills. People who can dump 200-400$ a month and get the newest champs and R3/4 them right away have a massive advantage. Unfortunately nothing can be done about it bc either way people will complain. I feel the pain though it definitely makes BG less fun than it used to be.

Can a representative from the company explain to me how this is a fair gaming experience?

This happens maybe 7/10 fights. I might catch a win maybe every 6th or 7th fight.
Once I win a match, the points earned are immediately gone within the next 2 fights.

Matchmaking, **** AI, over-tuned content for mediocre rewards, etc etc. The game hasn't been fair to players in a long time and it getting worse each year…..

Good advice, though. I followed it and took time off from BGs. Did the Fintech side quest and mini crucibles. It was nice to engage with content that wasn't a frustrating struggle.
