Titan compensation is Terrible!

I opened titans to get zola that wasn’t in the crystal because of kabam mistake. Now we getting selector as compensation where i can get either zola or titan. This completely takes away my chance of getting and duping zola when i had 5 chances to do so. Compensation means to compensate something like giving zola and titan to give me at least one chance, not this. Its ridiculous!

If he had been in the crystal, it is entirely possible you would have opened all of those and still not gotten him at all. Now you are guaranteed to have him.

You need to take a seat. I opened 10 Titans and I am ok with this. As I mentioned in another post I have opened over 30 and not had Okoye drop for me yet, so just giving us more Titans does not mean anyone would actually get Zola. They are giving everyone who wants him a 100% chance to get him, and is a win.

You also received Champions for the ones you opened, so you never lost anything technically. However, for those who were chasing him, they will be given a chance to get him guaranteed. You could open hundreds and not be guaranteed one, if you're talking possibility. Could you pull 5? Maybe. Anything is possible. Not very likely.

Kabam cannot reset time and undo the past. Statistically speaking, your expected rate of return on opening five Titan crystals was 5/18 of a Zola. This rounds to zero. Giving everyone a selector means first, everyone will be getting more Titan "drops" than they otherwise would have had, and for those that were explicitly aiming at Zola they are probably getting more of him than they otherwise would have. Only the players who opened more than 18 Titans are getting statistically fewer Titans, and only players who opened 27 or more Titans are getting statistically fewer than the rounded expected rate of return. This is a marginally tiny number of players, and I would hazard a guess that most of them aren't hurting for ways to acquire Zola.

In your case, the odds of pulling even a single Zola were just 25%. There was a three in four chance you would have gotten no Zolas. The odds of pulling two or more are about 3%. So the odds that you could have done better than the selector are about 33 to 1 against.

So except for the rare lunatic who was planning to open a thousand Titans hoping to walk away with a max sig Zola at the end of the day, pretty much everyone is getting more than what they were statistically likely to get. Sure, there are rare people who would have ended up with more Zolas, but just because such people statistically exist, doesn't mean they are even the right people to benefit. It is entirely possible and probable that lots of people would have gotten Zola dups that were not even looking for or wanting that champ, and conversely lots of people wanting to get and dup him could have still failed to do so.

The idea that everyone had different expectations, so we should just ask everyone precisely what they were hoping to get, and then giving it to them because hey, it could have happened, is asking for the ridiculous.

Another way to look at is, you now have a 100% chance of getting 1 Zola and a 0% chance of getting 2 Zolas. So if you opened at least 2 Crystals you had SOME chance of getting a dupe. This was taken from you and not compensated for. Honestly, what would be fair would be to give the people who opened more than one crystal in the affected time frame (I think it was two hours or so) both a Zola and a crystal. That would have been a huge win for them, but it is better to give more than not enough.

Personally, I didn’t want Zola so I have been gifted an extra Titan.

There are reasons to hoard other than targeting a specific champ. You could want Zola but not want the champs that are leaving… cough Rulk. Not to mention also being interested in the New champs while still favoring Zola.
