Since the comp goes out to anyone who bought a crystal through 11AM Pacific this morning, I'm assuming they were not going to begin validating the list of recipients until 11AM actually rolled over. They were never going to send it out right at the stroke of 11.

No. And also this is the math for fair and proper compensation - using 10 crystals as an example:

1. What the odds should have been

12 characters in total, each equally likely.
Probability for each = 1/12 ≈ 8.33%.

2. What the odds actually were

Only 11 characters were actually in the pool.
Probability for each = 1/11 ≈ 9.09%.
The missing character had 0% chance of being obtained.

3. The effect on your 10 crystals

With 10 crystals, your expected number of draws of any particular character should have been:
10 × (1/12) = 10/12 ≈ 0.8333.
For the missing character, you actually got: 0.
You’re “owed” ≈ 0.8333 of a draw of that character in expectation.

4. How many extra crystals equals that?

Each crystal gives 1/12 ≈ 0.0833 expected copies of that character.
To reach 0.8333 expected copies, you’d need:
0.8333 ÷ (1/12) = 10 crystals.

✅ Fair compensation

The fair compensation would be 10 additional crystals, because that gives you back the expected chance you should’ve had for the missing character across your original 10 opens.

Your math is wrong. There are 18 champs in the current Titan, not 12.

It also ignores the fact that each of the ten crystals you opened still gave you one of the other seventeen champs in the pool. Giving you 10 more crystals would just be a 2-for-1 deal on Titans.

I could maybe see a case where they gol gave players one selector for every 18 Titans they opened (rounded up). But one free Titan for each regular Titan opened would be ridiculous and penalizing for those who didn't save crystals for an unannounced 2-for-1 deal.

Net Impact of the Bug

You received an expected 10 champions total (same as correct pool).

Compensation Effect

Gives me enough time to decide if I want a really annoying Defender for a mode I'm getting less and less interested in (and that basically everyone will have, devaluing), or do I want a like 6 in 18 chance of getting someone better and that I'd rather have, but ultimately landing on Joaquin Torres for the 4th time lol.

Best counters are going to be anyone who can knock him down with a heavy attack (either via parrying non-contact attacks or inflicting a stun when charging a heavy mid-combo like Silk), and who doesn't rely on special attacks actually dealing damage because he'll inflict a 90% Cowardice on you during your specials.

But I did get Jean Grey out of 1 of 3 crystals opened this time, someone I really wanted, so I'm feeling particularly greedy that I could possibly pull a Nico or Karolina.

Just because the last few BGs metas have nerfed him and allowed you to take him out even without counters doesn't mean he's actually bad. He's in the same territory as Onslaught and Bullseye currently, just depends on the meta, the last GC one allowed you to nuke him with anyone but that's not the case most of the time.

Id say Onslaught and Bullseye are in a better place because unlike Zola whose counters are good for several other matchups, a lot of the counters for bullseye and onslaught are mid for other matchups outside of them. I think its also less of a need for a counter to Zola than to Bullseye (juggernaut, spidey, tigra etc) and thats not counting the projectile parry, intercept stun on parry, and assisted combo into heavy champs.

Unrelated but Bullseye i feel is probably going to be more useful on attack for these new science defenders like Spider Woman, Modok, High Evo.
