Max sig dupe from Titan

I have not seen anything official for this, but some alliance members stated a CC purposely going max sig on some titan champs to get ascension materials, yet it has been the case that pulling a max sig dupe on a Titan pool champ is the worst kick in the gonads possible and other CCs actively avoid getting any champ above 160.

So what is the current deal? If you have a max sig Titan pool champ and pull it again you basically lost nearly 20k titan shards and only gained a measly amount of class ISO, right? Everything I have seen about ascension is only about new champs introduced after the Summoner Fest.

Reason I am asking is that I have a max sig Yelena that will basically prevent me from opening Titans for the next 3 months...

To elaborate, yes you will get future ascension/rank up rewards, but you won't see them as anything for the time being until the ascension is fully ready to go next year, but Kabam will know what each account has.
