Why do people forfeit BG?

I just played BG for the first time ever.
I won the first round, completely messed up the placement of my defenders/attackers in the second round (got them the wrong way round and out Kingpin against their DPX) but I won the first fight to find my opponent had forfeited?

Why do they do that?
Is there any kind of benefit to it?

Game crash, and unable to re-load and resume current fight before servers just consider it a Forfeit.
Comparing rosters, seeing opponent is stronger, and doesn’t want to waste the time (or effort) on a match they don't want to try so hard for.
(w/ above, just want to get thru easier matches faster, as if just doing the 2-day Objective Wins (not caring about Solo/Ally Event points progress)
(w/ above, think that forfeiting and going to an easier match, and giving up the “1/2 LOSS POINTS” will be made up for by getting thru more Wins at a faster rate.
Or lastly, want to stay in lower brackets so just Forfeiting on matches when they have “Medals” where a win would push them up a level. (to keep their level lower for easier 2-day Win Objectives thru rest of season)

All of this. And to add to that, they could be muti-tasking or whatever, and start a match with the intention of fighting, but then have to quit becauze something came up.

Sometimes I'll be sneak playing while at work, thinking I can get a quick fight in, until my boss pops up. Then I have to quit 😅

some people trying to hit their 2 day objectives without going into a match they might lose.

For me, if I complete stink in the third round and mess up poorly very fast, I'll just forfeit so I can get on with the next one.

If you do that, don't you not earn the points for completing a match? That's why I always sit thru to the end cuz I thought wlthat was true

Yeh, but what do you need points for? The alliance milestones aren't worth anything to my account, and the solo ones have already been hit.

This is usually the only reason I forfeit or don't fight and it actually happens way more than you might think

Thats true. Instead of getting 550 sigs after banquet I can get 551

People forfeit to be in lower BG ranks like Bronze and get the milestones.

In Vibranium I dont see this
