I want to play, not just pay

Good morning, for some time now my game account has basically turned into an ATM. Potions and revives that expire, energy refills that expire… I remember the good old days when, to progress, you actually had to play events — not just spend thousands of euros hoping to pull a rank five, which might not even happen.

So you've 100% everything in the game? Congrats, and if so, I can see why expiring items might sting but if you've no content left to complete or explore, what else can you do?

Rank 5 is probably a goal many players aim for, but that’s not the point of my post. As you can read from the title, it’s an invitation to create events where you can actually play the game and progress, not just pay to grow your account.

Yes, I’ve completed 100% of the game’s events. Expiring resources wouldn’t be an issue if there were more content where I could actually put my champions to the test. I’m simply saying that it’s more enjoyable and engaging when your account grows by completing events, not just by paying.

Solo Colosseum launches tonight- while it won't help with your expiring resources, at least it's content that is definitey tuned towards progressing your account given the cumulative rewards available. And as there's no podiums etc, it's not even P2P.

Revive will expire, because they are giving you/you are collecting them daily basis, along with stream. This holiday session were long , and you have completed early, that's about it, the game is fine.

I agree completely, and its the main reason I didnt bother even spending money on banquet. What's the point of having all of these high rank champs if there is actually no need for them in the game.. bgs is boring and not fun , so for me there's no point in having 30 r4s or chasing all the meta defenders..

I'm little struggled to understand your point.

Currently I have expiring Revive and Energy refill NOT because of lack of contents to do, but because Kabam have change their policy and give out lots more Revives and Energy Refill, which is a wonderful and I'm very thankful. It let me be more engaging without stressing out the lack of resources. This is a right direction, which Kabam changed from a few months ago when they wwre planning to do the complete opposite direction, after so many feedback from the players and CCP.

As for contents, I can honestly say we have so much contents (that it is near the boarder of overwhelming). BG, MEQ, multiple Side Quest, new type of Incursion, Solo Coliseum coming up which give the best and more progressive rewards, level that only 2600 top spenders got in the recent Banquet. There are a lot for players to do, and honestly the challenge is finding the time or balance with real life time to do them.

Clearly you are not happy with the state of MCoC for you, but I'm not sure what you mentioned here is the issue. The only thing I can thing of is maybe the lack of Big Endgame content like EoP and Necropolie.

I do get your concern that the game has become more focused on pay to play, and yes I think there are a lot of events that play on our FOMO tendencies.

But I have a main account and a side FTP account, and as long as I don't focus on what I can't obtain I have a lot of fun with my FTP account.

MCOC will disappear like hundreds of other app fighting games have over the last decade without the paying players. There needs to be a tangible benefit for investing $$ in the game or else there is no game at all.

Yes, that’s actually correct: many of the current game modes don’t really require standard energy refills, nor heavy resource usage. In your example, you’ve pretty much nailed the point.

What I’m really asking for is content like Necropolis and EoP, with rewards that are proportional to the difficulty. Content that allows players to reach Rank 5 through skill and gameplay, not just spending.

It would also be great to be able to approach that kind of content using all the new champion designs, especially those that scale damage over time — like the upcoming Star-Lord, for example.

Until a few months ago, I always bought the 1,000-unit offer to make sure I had resources and boosts. But as you can see from the post I shared, I’m no longer buying offers that give potions.

In this case I am referring to paying to play certain 7* champs that are prizes at the end of spending events. Can you save up your units for these champs? Yes. But then you will be unit depleted for the next spending event.

My main point was that you should benefit from spending in this game, and I am a light to occasionally moderate spender who has seen his champ roster bolstered significantly from my investment, but it is still fun and challenging to be FTP which I do with my second account.

I don’t know if I’m fully aligned with OP, but I definitely miss EoP content. Getting a really weird fight every couple of weeks that was a puzzle to solve with different champs / tags was a good vibe. I’m hopeful coliseum fills some of that void, but it seems fundamentally different to me. More about sustaining a fight rhythm over a long period of minutes rather than trying to manage detailed, complex interactions. It might be great but it’s not the same in my mind.

While not in the same way of planning, but maybe in term of skill and length of the fight. I think Solo Coliseum would give a similar feel, where it does test your skill and have a self imposed skill test, where uou can keep going back to the same fight and see if you can clear more Health bar before getting KO. The rewards is definitely high up there to the same level as EoP / Necropolise (minus the Rare champ).

you do know you don’t save all your resources you need to complete all the content in game, as your inventory couldn’t hold it all especially for as long as it would take to do it. It’s not hard to be done with everything especially if you have been playing the game long enough. You say they changed how they give stuff out a couple months back, it’s still going down the same road they just slapped some lipstick on it for us…
