Battlegrounds Exclusive event

I think this is one of the cheapest and greediest thing MCOC has done. You just had the most profitable month and year and now doing this was completely unnecessary. Doing these kinds of things only reduces the game's reputation. Nothing good comes out of these kinds of events. It just leaves a bad taste.

I really really hope that this is not the direction the game is going now.

Greedy how? It’s a cheap deal with **** rewards, we get those all the time and you can either buy them or ignore them. Would you rather they locked 100k radiance 200k trophy tokens and 40k Titan shards behind it and charged $100 instead so the whales can get an even bigger advantage against you? Cause that would be greedy

I don’t not want to see that banner when I go into my quests (basically my map) for MCOC. My fear is this is a test run. I am fine with offers in game, not like this.

It doesn't matter that the rewards suck, they could offer literally nothing for the $10 and it would still be greedy because they literally just came off their most profitable month (top 13 gacha game earnings off in-game sales alone) in ages and they're trying to find MORE avenues for monetization?? Greed isn't about value, it's about the audacity to ask for more when you already have enough.

And this is just the start, they very well could juice it up later to have actually valuable rewards. Why not call it out for what it is now and not later?

They are free and entitled to add pay to play events as much as they like and as often as they like.

Fortunately we’re also free to tell them their pay to play event is terrible value for money, looks bad on screen, and degrades the look and feel of the game.

Can't wait for the banquet realm event to be locked behind a $50 ticket. I wonder how all the F2P defending the deal now will feel. I'm sure the spenders will slurp it up regardless though

I'm genuinely trying to better understand the feedback here. Are you suggesting that because December turned out to be a strong month, we should avoid launching any additional offers in January?

The feedback on the presentation and placement of the offer is duly noted - and personally, I think they're very fair and well-founded.

That said, I think we're crossing into misleading territory when we start calling this "pay-to-play," etc, when the contents are no different from a normal offer, or a purchasable bonus to the already existing Battlegrounds 48-hour Objectives - similar to the platinum pass in the double track events, etc.

So your logic is that a side meaningless event for X money is bad; but 10 SBC crystals for half unit value (49.99) or buying Odins with a 50% more units is ok?..

It has always been this way, people who pay get more than F2P, the weird reason why people are upset at this one is because it is presented as an Event, not because of a paywall. If they were to make a sale for 15k trophies + 2.5k Titan Shards for 9.99 no one would be this upset.

They are not upset at the value or the event, they are upset they are looking at it from behind a locked glass door.

Offers have always given spenders an advantage so I don't care about those. Exclusive events just give kabam the ability to paywall content we used to have for free.

This isn't related to your comment, but the comparisons to the plat pass don't make any sense. Like every single battle pass in existence, there is a paid and free version. As such, nobody is forced to pay to engage with it. This BGs event doesn't have a free version, it is completely paywalled.

The excuse that BGs objectives are the "free" version of this event make no sense. We get daily objectives in the gold/plat pass but we also get a free mini-booster objective for both. This offer is the equivalent of having the mini-booster objective locked to only plat pass owners.

Making money is fine, but the current monetization systems in place already do that. This isn't about whether or not they make money, it's about adding new systems of making money instead of just using the current ones. I don't think anybody likes seeing paywalled solo events on top of everything we already have.

And I'm pretty sure trying to make more money at the cost of your reputation with customers is part of the definition of corporate greed. Say what you will about forums, but from what I've gathered from the game's community on YouTube, very, very few people are excited for 'exclusive events'.

We'll see what happens in the future; but this is no different from buying and odin with 4500 units during banquet.

This BG event doesn't have a free version because they moved the free version into VT rewards. It was done about 3 or 4 seasons ago.

I can tell you 1 thing for sure. A lot of F2P saw the event locked and came to complain before they even saw the rewards. Anybody with 2 working brain cells can laugh at it and pass on it.

Message for F2P players, maybe its not a good idea to brag about your unit spending, ranking and stuff like that after events like banquet. I know it might seem like an incredible achievement to show how an F2P can spend 50k units; from the business point of view they might think you got too much and start giving more to the spenders, they at least pay and create profit after all.

Why must they be limited to the current ones only? You'd be a pretty inefficient company if you didn't introduce new ways to make money, especially when the old ones stop meeting quotas.

The Event isn't locked behind a paywall. One specific set of Objectives are, and that isn't new at all. It's been in the game a long time.

This game will never be completely free, and it will also never be pay-to-play alone. Everytime there's a different offer released, people react as if it's some kind of omen. Let me be clear. They will continue to try to make money. That will never stop. They will also try new ways when the old ways aren't yielding what they need. That's just common sense.

There isn't one specific demographic for sales. They offer sales to target a range of Players, and a range of spending habits, at a range of points in the game. So they are quite literal when they say not all offers are for everyone.

We can't control what they sell and how much they sell. When the day comes that you can't play the game at all for free, I'll gladly pick up a pitchfork with you.

Man the human mind is an extremely interesting thing. We just came out of banquet, people got ridiculous amounts of upgrades, champs, sig levels, rank ups, some are even overflowing with mats. The battle they choose to fight is an event with trophies and a small percentage of a titan crystals 🤣

Selling is how every business on the planet works, if you don't want to buy everything they put out then don't. It'd be understandable if there was some fomo in there involved and they were bringing such sales back every two months, THAT would be greedy and predatory, this however is not. It's also not fair for you to say "oh I'm calling it out before this turns into this", how exactly do you know what this is going to turn into? You got insider information or something or just taking a wild guess? I think we both know the answer there

The feedback is that we don't want to have an aspect of the contest that was traditionally paid for through in-game effort to be now paid for with cash + in-game effort. If you have extra 'rewards budget' that can be allocated to cash deals, put it entirely in the unit store like every other such deal (or tune up existing ones).

The current presentation of this offer has many issues from the community's perspective:

A. We do not want to see yet another separate subscription/premium style pass for rewards on top of what we already have. Mind you, there's already the plat pass, summoner's sigil, daily cards, daily specials, piggy bank, periodic sales, and then usual unit store deals. Decentralizing reward sources never felt great, isn't that why the radiance store was made?

B. Having the new monetization method sit upon the original solo events system is going to make people feel like they're losing out on the rewards they normally would've had (i.e. BGs solo event last season). Even if you claim you won't take away from what would originally have been rewarded, it's going to give that impression nonetheless.

C. Rolling this out right after the financial and community success that was 2025 banquet feels like the company is in a rush to raise the average spend. Why? It comes off as desperate and greedy. You really don't need to do this.

If we took this to the logical extreme and redistributed most of the cash offer rewards into different 'exclusive passes' for various game modes (incursions exclusive pass, side quest exclusive pass, event quest exclusive pass, etc.), do you think players would prefer that to just buying cash offers in the unit store like they do now? The value per spend could remain exactly the same but it would feel like you're being nickel-and-dimed at every corner of the game. It makes the game FEEL pay to win, even when it isn't. Especially for newer players.

It feels necessary to call this one out because ignoring it may just leave you guys to assume we're cool with it, only that it just doesn't give enough rewards. You'll eventually tune it up (or god forbid add more of these) to the point that some players will cave, but the general sentiment of it feeling like a cash grab will remain.

For something that is bad, calling it "pay walled" sends the wrong message too. Now they think its a good idea and people want it, after all why would anybody call something they don't want "pay walled"....

If people just ignored it, the message would have been clear; but nah now they think they are onto something and its just a matter of putting the right things in the event and see how much they can sell it for.

Old ones aren't meeting quotas? Said old ones made a record high of sales last month, and even in slower months like September they kept the game still earning in the top 30 of gachas that month. What are these quotas and why are they so high???

One specific set of objectives? From what I see in-game the entire 14 day event is blocked from claiming rewards until you get the pass. If you removed the paid content, it's tab under solo events would completely disappear.

It feels like Jeff Bezos is charging me $10 for a handshake. It's a bad deal and I can ignore it sure, but Jeff Bezos sells lots of things- doesn't need to charge me for a handshake. That makes him seem greedy, and lowers my opinion of him. I don't think Kabam needs to start charging for solo events. Add more unit store deals, add more saga sale offers, don't do this.
