I've been meaning to make this post since Summoner's Fest, but my brain only just unlocked how to possibly piece together the information we were given today after seeing the sp3 animation released on social media.
What we know:
- Persistent Charges
- Overload
- Crush
- Unique Indestructible
There's a reason why I've listed them in that order. My hopes for the above kit items:
- Persistent Charges. DLL said in one of his streams that he believes he found a new, happy medium between Photon's and Serpent's Persistent Charge styles. Photon's stack with debuff placement; Serpent needs to win fights. I'm hoping what this means is that they'll function as a faster (MUCH faster) version of Sentry's Reality Warp charges or a more straightforward version of Spider-Punk's Crowd Members. I also think he'll start with a certain number of them in Battlegrounds (more on this later...).
- To feed the above Persistent Charges, Overload effects. I'm hoping he inflicts Severe Overloads (can't be shrugged; fits the lore vibe of him literally being a walking Antimatter reactor - no loss of reaction efficiency, yay science), which stack as Persistent Charges to carry over between fights, and provide new effects as they stack. Only Photon and Silver Samurai have Overload right now - I want Blue Marvel to make it HIS debuff - the most stackable, thus resulting in the highest potency Overload effect in the game. I also hope each debuff gives him an attack increase as well, accounting for his superhuman strength.
- Crush effect. I'm also hoping that after a certain number of Overloads, Crush is inflicted. Just imagine it - an unblockable barrage of increasing energy damage bursts, that can't be shrugged. Big unblockable (lowercase "u") red numbers galore.
- Indestructible Mechanic. I feel like what we'll see is a controllable Indestructible - a passive effect that procs when you double tap or hold both block and heavy, consuming a certain number of Persistent Charges to be able to do so. Put the power in our hands to choose when we want to not be KO'd by some ridiculous special or node. Since you're ramping in the fight, you can do this multiple times. It also makes sense source material wise - consuming Antimatter energy to withstand a lethal blow, and then building your power back up again.
That's just based on what we know. I have other hopes, too:
- Immunities/Resistances. Bleed is a no-brainer I feel like. So is Poison, Shock, Coldsnap, Incinerate...any energy DOT tbh, among others - Blue Marvel's nigh indestructible. The list of immunities should be extensive, but...MCOC logic lol. Maybe high energy and physical resistance like Count Nefaria in his Ionic Overcharge state. Doing some research, it's possible for him to be vulnerable, but really only when Neutronium or his own Antimatter is involved.
- Resonance Buff. I really hope we get the third iteration of Resonance on Blue Marvel as well. Whether it be from his sp3 like Beta Ray Bill or in his sig ability, let's give him an additional damage boost that fits his character (the Resonance buff is blue).
- Evade and/or Miss counter. Having Crush is sick, but either of these effects could render it useless. Blue Marvel has enhanced mental perception and senses, meaning he can't/won't miss or be evaded. Maybe a passive True Focus somewhere in his kit, activated with Persistent Charges that ramp in the fight (or that you start with in Battlegrounds!!)
Again, I've been trying to think about how his kit would work since I was at Summoner's Fest in November - glad my brain finally started working, and I think I'm on to something! Let me know your thoughts/own ideas below.
