I kinda miss the old champion design/era
I've been playing this game for a very long time, and I'm also a marvel movies fan and comics.
What dissapoints me recently is the lack of corelation between comics champion abilities and game champion abiities.
Take the old champions for example.
Human torch, just incinerate everything, and nova flame. Great adaption into the contest.
Luke Cage - indestructible, bleed immune, and hits hard. Perfect.
Moonknight (i know he's not great but thats not the point) - abilities based on moon phase, super cool concept.
Black Panther Civil War - reflective armor, and bleeds, again, very accurate to the movie.
Blade - regen, and bleed
Wolverine - regen, regen, regen, regen, bleeds, bleeds, bleeds, , just fantastic
Domino - luck based failing of abilities, and i love it
Ms. Marvel - poison immunity, energy absorbtion, makes sense.
Ghost rider - judgements, incinerate +bleed immunity, makes sense.
Buffed juggs - UNSTOPPABLE, all the time, amazing, love it.
And i could go on with many more examples.
Of course they should have abilities based on class, however they should retain some originality and comic-accurate ability.
Now let's start ranting.
New mutants released. oh, i know, add Daunted, because , ..its new ability, what else..oh yeah, add damage, thats great, oh, oh, i know, neuroshock, cuz that makes sense, doesnt it? captain britain, jean grey, cassandra nova, silver samurai, (i love them and ranked them up, but where is the original ability or character?
Skill champs. oh , lets add, idk, sleep? wow, um, what else, ..tranquilize? okay, what else? crits, make it crit.. and.. yeah, looks good to me..
(Mantis having sleep makes a lot of sense, and i appreciate that, but Mr. Knight applying sleep? what? why? and tranquilize debuffs? he should apply concussions, he hits you with a stick on the head, okay, they have injury debuffs but what is that?
I want to feel like Mr. Knight when im playing Mr Knight....i love that character,.
Science champs,... BLEED IMMUNITY, because skill champs apply bleed, and we dont want that.,. i dont know. oh yeah, add power stings to everyone, and , ruptures, and keep recycling the same abilities over and over for no reason.
Anyways, and designing a champ just to counter one specific champ in BG? thats, criminal..
i understand every class has specific abilities, so this should mean, at least they should counter a lot of champs in that class, not just 1 or 2, (haha, yelena, or serpent, or bullseye)
And i really miss the out of class matchups, just making overall good, fun champions, that you can bring anywhere.
And i also miss the fun nodes, like bleed vulnerability, flare, power shield, and so on.
i cant have fun if im reading 20 nodes like disarm, scourge, weaponize, profilerate, clarify, loose cannon, steady perseverance, all on Every champ on the path. 2-3 nodes is enough, dont give me 7-10 nodes... gives me a headache to read.
and im not a bad player, i explored all story content, all variants, most everest content, and reached gladiator a couple of times in BG. im just getting tired of bloated nodes and boring champion kits. i wanna have more fun.
