From Magik to Tragik #justiceforMagik

Yooo, what’s up guys?
I just want to share my disappointment with this “nerf-rework-new champ” !? What is going on here?
Why remove from her kit the core mechanics that made her the Champion we all know and love? Where’s the power control gone and why call it rework? This is a completely new champ in my personal opinion. Is it bad? It’s probably to early to say it.. but it feels bad.. it hurts my feelings..
At least they could’ve let us keep the og five star version and create a new version of Magik.. stellar forged Magik ???? But guess what?! No! She’s gone… forever.
Am i going to buy her from the radiance store?! Hell no, i’m pissed. You can keep it.

P.s. i hope they won’t “rework” other 5-6 star locked champs… such as arcangel, hercules, etc… please don’t do it… Here i promise, if they’re going to do it with QUAKE aswell, i’m going to uninstall this game. Cheers

The old Magik design would NEVER be released in higher rarities. she would be 5* locked forever. This is a decent compromise.

they gave Madeline Pryor power steal of 3 bars of power on so 3 (steal 50% power but draining 100% of power)

so why not give magik at least 10% power steal?

I'm assuming they wanted to stay away from the loop, so they went in a different direction. It's either this, or she stays a 5*.

Goblin Queen's one is on a 60 second cooldown and actually returns half of that power back to them after some time. This naturally plays into her kit.

Besides, what's the point of having a tiny power steal in there for the sake of it? What good would that do if it isn't in line with her kit? Power steal isn't even connected to Magik as a character so why would anyone want this beyond nostalgia for the old champ?

Power steal that can only be used once every 60 seconds and grants the opponent half of thay power back after a few seconds. Not the same thing as keeping a champion permanently power locked for the entire fight

Because with how her new kit works she doesn’t need it, I keep seeing people asking for power steal, do you all not realize how much power she gains from MD as is? You throw power steal in there you would be getting to three bars against every single cosmic defender and they would’ve needed to add a sp3 disabling mechanic just to make her loop usable but she already has so much in her kit there really was no need for them to make it even more complicated. Why would you want her loop to be even more frustrating than it already is? Some cosmics take a lot of skill to nuke with her already as is, with power steal it would’ve been even worse.

”Feels bad” is crazy when a 5*, not a 6* or 7*, a 5* is already doing this to a RoL hp with no additional buffs supercharging her, or boosts or synergies increasing her damage

Just wild lol and this could’ve been faster if I didn’t eat multiple specials. Can’t wait for the 7* to release on the radiance store and once the top Celestial players get her and start showcasing the crazy stuff she’s capable of, then everyone else will follow like sheep and forget about nostalgia including Lagacy who’s on a big crybaby marathon currently 🥀💀

Hard Agree here plus she still does some power control like no opponents are gaining power during her specials at all. I tired the new reworked Illyana out and she is very fun but needs practicing but solid overall. The ones who cry like Lagacy who hasn't even tested her out at all are stuck in the past fully without giving the new Magik a chance.

Theres also the fact that now limbo is the core of her kit and not just a random thing that happens for a bit after she gains a bar of power. If she stole power like people want it would be way harder to have control over when it triggers and you could potentially just lose it as soon as it triggers if you get pushed up too early

The damage is actually way better than it used to be, the utility and versatility went down of course but that’s what you should’ve expected in the first place because they made it very clear multiple times that the power locking and stealing loop was what made her extremely broken not her damage. Her damage even with recoils and suicides was mid, it was the fact she didn’t allow the defender to gain any power that made her so strong. So technically it’s both a buff and a nerf, mostly a nerf, but like I said that’s what you should’ve expected based on the info they’d given us previously.
The whole point I was trying to make is that just because she got nerfed doesn’t mean she’s bad, this community is so dramatic when it comes to nerfs, she has all the potential to still be a top 5 mystic yet I see a lot of people whining regardless lol.

Exactly that’s another thing, she still has some form of power control with that special attack ability which with AI nowadays is pretty big. You can throw a sp2 or sp3 even on a defender with 2.5 bars and not eat a sp3 in return. People are just focusing on the broken old loop which was the whole point of the rework and are ignoring the bigger picture.

That too yeah, her whole kit and playstyle are all about limbo and knowing how to use it properly which I really like. If she had even more power gain whether that be through power steal or whatever it would be extremely hard to keep limbo under control, and there would definitely be situations where limbo was about to expire but you get pushed to the next bar so now you’re forced to throw a sp3 instead of a sp2. It would be very frustrating overall.

Also another thing that I’ve barely seen anyone mention (which is wild) is that she’s easily going to be a Domino level defender, no buff immune or degen resistant you’re losing 50% hp from limbo damage no matter what (assuming you dex all her specials too cause if you just so happen to block one you melt even faster and lose more hp). I’ve never seen this much hate for such a strong dual threat champ it is truly baffling to me.

I can buy deathless shehulk for like 250-300k radiance , which is not worse than magik

Her best quality was the ability to power drain with her Special 2. I don’t know what this is, but it’s definitely not Magik. I had saved my alphas5 to take her straight to R5. What a joke, Kabam, you completely ruined a character we’ve been waiting for YEARS. Go screw yourselves. I’m beyond pissed.

It was power steal not power drain, you have resources for a r5 but don’t know the difference between these two?
That power steal was apart of the problem and why she was so broken, if you expected them not to nerf Magik before her 7* release you’re out of your mind lol this was common knowledge

The objective wasn't to buff her, it was to give her a rework that still made her appealing and viable, without being game-breaking. I have yet to test, but it seems promising.

Well buddy this rework Magik is what we got their is nothing to complain now, also this rework is much more accurate to her comic book version so it kinda is actually Magik.

I think most of the players here would rather have characters serving one single, hyper specific purpose in an exceptionally good way (in this case, power control), even if they are extremely boring to play and outdated in their animations and/or design.

I can't wait for them to rework, say, OG Scarlet Witch or Thor, and still have people complaining that they aren't broken or cheat codes like they used to be pre-12.0 (mind you that I've seen people doing similar remarks about Strange): if the devs were fine having such broken characters, they wouldn't have nerfed them, or kept them a lower rarity instead, in the first place.

The whole point of Magik's rework was to update her and to rule out the specific part of her kit that prevented her being released in the 6 and then 7 stars pool: to think they were going to keep that untouched and just add more broken stuff for our pleasure would be naive; it was more of a rebalancement to allow her to be playable in an "healthy" way, not strictly a buff/tune up.

Either we keep an extremely broken character, forever restricted to lower rarities and therefore unusable for players who reached a certain level of progression, or we get a character who meets the game's today standards, potentially available to everyone (and which doesn't looks like it's belong to 2015, I'd add)
