Ascension is 8* in disguise

It’s actually worse because you can’t choose who to rank up - rank ups are RNG based. And you don’t get to keep your 7 sta as an extra in your roster.

The only thing they’re letting you keep from the 7 stars is the sig ability.

All you collectors who worked hard and invested heaps of cash building your 7 star rosters, those are worth less now. You gotta start all over again.
All you whales screaming you’ll quit if 8* get introduced- now’s the time to put your money where your mouth is.

If you wanna start the cycle all over again knowing the facts, that’s up to you.

Yep, it's basically 8s. Champ releases are out of our hands and it's RNG all over again.

It's kind of sad how quickly we got here because it hasn't even been 3 years yet.

7s were so good at launch because we got full challenger rating out of the box at r1 and now players have to face that uphill battle all over again since ascension affects CR. Not fun.

There isn't a disguise, they said this from the initial announcement. Its 1000% better than 8 stars because sig investment doesnt become meaningless

"in disguise" they literally explained the reasons for not doing 8*s. people were pissed about all the time and investment into their 6 stars when 7 stars came out and had to rebuild from 0. now you get to keep all your champs and just make them stronger over time. this is 1000x better than adding 8 stars.

Calling it “ascended 7*” when it is not your choice who to ascend and it’s based on crystal luck, is simply deceitful. It’s a rarity escalation called otherwise to prevent an uproar.

but you know what, I don’t think we should play along with it. If you like getting a golden shower and calling it a rainy day, that’s your choice. I don’t feel like playing along with the lie.

I wouldn't call it a lie or deception because deep down we kinda knew the chase would be like this.

We just didn't really think through how it would look and feel long term, because eventually champs will take a backseat to ascension materials and make this game feel very different than the past 11 years.

I have made my peace with it, I as a general f2p usually dont get to taste the premium cheese till it gets common and lose its exclusivity.

I'm not againt the protests... I just can't be bothered with it anymore...

I feel defeated pulling sam, patriot and corvus.

it took me a while to figure it out but I think I get it now.

Kabam can’t sell you new champs once you have a wide enough roster at the highest rarity - because you can always find solutions to new problems within your existing roster (ie, Britain? You can hunt down Maker, but you can just use Havok).

So the only way to freshen up the rosters is to limit the usable roster to less champs - a rarity escalation.

That means the chase has to start all over again. The pool released will have nothing but middle of the road champs like Patriot and Corvus, new champs in the top rarity will be completely OP (ie - remember the release of onslaught, serpent, photon, bullseye - the initial 7 stars? - expect this level in the next few months in new champs released), while the old gods I just mentioned will forever be locked, without an opportunity to ascend them, unless you shill out heaps of cash during sales.

And when they run out of gods to sell, once most rosters are composed of 200ish lvl2 ascended champs, they’ll kick the ant hill again and release lvl 3 and 4 ascension.

it’s diabolical, mostly because it’s so blatantly obvious but never said upfront.
