Calling It Quits

Just wanted to say thanks to all the people at Kabam that had a part in designing this cool game, the animations and the kits are really top notch for a mobile game.

And just for the sake of discussion, as far as reasons for quitting, it really boils down to ascension.

I have 36k prestige, maxed out all the major sales last year, have Torch, Red Guardian, Dark Phoenix. Just got a R5 DThanos recently. So I consider myself a moderate spender at least and a very active end-game player (Mysterium in BGs, all Necro, EOP, Carrinas completed).

But I'm not going to pay the exorbitant cost it requires to get the featured crystals for ascending new champs, and waiting until 2027 for some undefined chance is just ridiculous in my opinion.

So basically, there is no longer any interest in new champs for me. And the current ascension pool pretty much doesn't contain any of my favorite champs that I use. And even the champs I do sort of like in the current base ascension pool, the RNG is also terrible (1 in 120 to get a 1 in 30 chance and then get that three times just for Level 2).

On top of that, I had been hoarding all my currencies in anticipation of the new essentia store, and the cheapness and in my opinion insulting communication was basically a confirmation that I need to step away.

The state of the game is genuinely so **** right now, and the decisions they’re making with ascension and essentia are so damn unhinged that posts like these are actually getting farewell messages instead of the usual “L thread you don’t need to announce your departure this is not an airport”, people actually understand why others are leaving these aren’t just the usual Karen “I quit” threads anymore. Kabam, you need to wake tf up before you keep driving more people away cause this isn’t funny anymore, you are killing your loyal endgame playerbase and for what? You should be concerned about the fact that 90% of these forums are now full of negativity and criticism to a point even the usual suspects GW and Demonzfyre have given up fighting your battles.

Understand completely. I just did the same. Also end game account with well over 37k prestige, all deals etc..

Not a fan of this new direction and currency. I just get that feeling the game is on the brink anyway so best bail now as any more investment seems pointless.

Yeah they need to sit down and re-evaluate:

The RNG aspect of ascension needs to change, champ tokens need to either be removed completely or they need to make it so every level requires just one champ token not multiple based on level cause that’s just ridiculous the game is about to get so damn p2w after we get past ascension 2.
New champs should be ascendable through Titans instead of only through the grace system that whole thing is complete bs and will also make the game extremely p2w.
Why tf is there a cap on how much currency we can turn into essentia just let me get rid of all of it at once ffs what even is the point to put a cap in place if there is another cap that also prevents me from buying items more than 20 times once a week.
They need to stop designing champs like J J, Mbaku and Pixie that essentially do the same things the usual suspects already do but worse, there is no point whatsoever. Is it really that hard for them to design champs in such a way that they’re interchangeable with others when the only thing most of them need is just a little more damage? J J, Mbaku and Pixie all could’ve been just as good as Solvarch, Okoye and Jean respectively if they had a little more damage and slightly more utility

Regarding point 4, those new champs are underwhelming because they're already ascendable. Pretty much the theme since they announced Lizard and beyond. I imagine we will see some pretty average to slightly above average champs for quite awhile. Since they can be ascended, they can be "stronger" than some other that won't see ascension for a very long time. It's all a joke.

Ascendable for about 500-800 bucks? Yes, point 4 kinda goes hand in hand with point 2. Majority of the playerbase won’t have any of them ascended any time soon because Kabam decided it was a brilliant idea to not allow us to ascend new champs through the Titan, so for most of us those champ will remain irrelevant for who knows how long. Like you said, it’s all a joke lol

I totally understand. What I don't understand is Kabam's "logic" sometimes.

For 6*'s, we get generic ascension dust that we can use for whoever, but for 7*'s, we get 0 autonomy.

Madelyne is going to be insane there is no point in even arguing that, and Strange and Pav are both very strong as well. The difference with the ones I mentioned tho is these three actually have damage and you could even argue that all three of them are interchangeable with Nico depending on the meta, the others however are not. It’s been 6 months since Mr. Knight was released and so far he hasn’t dominated anything in-game other than his own deep dive.

Yeah it seems like not enough people are talking about how absolutely INSNANE (read: impossible for f2p or ridiculously damn expensive) it's going to be to eventually ascend champions past rank 2.

If the whole system is RNG, and you have to draw them once to ascend rank 1, but then have to be lucky and pull them two more times to ascend to rank 2, then following that trend…

I'd have to be LUCKY enough to pull him 3 MORE times for the next level, so on and so forth. So you've got a pool of 30 champions, and a crystal to draw them which is already really difficult to acquire, and I have to LUCK INTO getting him three more times, on top of the two other times, on top of my first time, to take him to rank 3?

Yes, obtaining the crystals and so forth will likely increase and be more readily available in time, but once we start getting far enough in the game, am I really going to pull Kindred 15 times just to get an Ascended rank 5 version? The whole thing sounds like an inconceivable nightmare.

I agree. I been playing this game since 2017, on & off, starting over several times w/ new accounts. Never more than 6 months out at a time, tho. I just tried to submit a request to find out how to convert my glory currency I still have to the new currency, but, in order to submit it, they want me to remember my exact date I started, my 1st 2 real money purchases, & other inane stuff I have no clue about any more. Kabam is taking their silly mobile game, & themselves, way too seriously.
