Nerf to Echo Damage

With all of the recent changes that we have been mislead about:
1. Changes to the balance program
2. SW nerf
3. Essentia
Is it to much to ask for an accurate update about the changes to echo damage (a term that I have never heard used in the 11 years playing this game) and the champions and relics that this will effect and how. Just once don't lie to us, tell us what is changing and who and what is being nerfed?

LOL they dont even come close to telling us. One - what are the unnamed mechanics listed in the post, do you know? Can you tell me so I make sure I dont rank these champs? Also outside of the two champions mentioned who is being effected by these changes? I mean, they have never used the term echo damage before so how am I supposed to know what that really is, and who this nerf affects. They used a term never used before so it seems they can really change what they want and call it echo damage since its not really defined at all. That is the information we need to make educated decisions about who to rank up and who to wait on. NONE of that is outlined in the post. Which is why in my post I am asking for accurate information. If you have it please share.

They explained what echo damage is and all It takes is looking at a champions kit and seeing if it says "damage based on hit damage" and thats what it is. Its very clear theyre just giving it a name now.

They use the term unnamed mechanics. Nothing is clear in that post. Please enlighten us then with a response that tells us what champs will be affected by the changes. Like the guy who replied with the exact same comment you did, adding nothing to the discussion, you cannot. No one is complaining about the SW, just listed as a recent misleading post like the very vague Echo damage which you cannot even reply with a definition of or a list of champs that it will effect LOL. This is an opportunity to actually come through with quality communication. I believe if you have nothing to add to the conversation its a violation to keep spamming the thread.

It’s explained in the literal same sentence immediately following it. Any effect that scales with hit damage, aka anything that says “deal X% of the damage dealt/hit damage as a burst of damage”. All the stuff that functions like Trauma/Reverb/etc. that isn’t directly called that.

”Who is being affected by these changes”

Anyone who has one of the echo effects. I guess they don’t give you an actual list of every affected champion but you can look at any champ you care about and see if they have such an effect. If they have one of the listed effects of Reverb, Trauma, Overload, or Resonance, they are affected. If they have a part of their kit that says “deal X% of the hit damage as Y damage” or “deal X% of the damage dealt as Y damage”, they are affected.

See the first point. They do define it. I don’t get why people keep being confused by their definition, I think it’s fairly simple and clear, but because I’ve had to clarify a bunch of other times, this still does not mean “literally any form of burst or non-hit damage”. It’s just when you deal some form of damage, usually an instant burst, that is a percentage of hit damage. Any form of damage where, in the ability description, it gives you the actual damage they deal as a number means that it scales with your (modified or base) attack, not hit damage, and is thus unaffected by any proposed changes.

Karolina just deals a regular Burst of damage. It says in her kit how much damage it does as a number. This is not echo damage. Nothing is changing here.

High Evo deals echo damage. His kit doesn’t state that his bursts deal “1000 damage” or “50000 damage”, it says it’s a percentage of the damage dealt by his hits. How much burst damage he does is directly related to how much damage his hits do and can therefore vary based on a lot of factors, not just attack rating. This is echo damage that will be affected.

I am (unwisely) going to end this comment asking if you have any good faith questions that I can help you with. I hope that this will not waste my time.

You're right, a game with 250+ champions with all kinds of abilities and interactions and long complicated descriptions of characters its selfish to ask for a list from the company nerfing said champions. crazy ridiculous. LOL

Many champions will be nerfed, but no one really knows who or why. If they did they could produce a list of champs and no one seems to be able to.

Herc is another big one every thing he does has Echo damage.

Still unsure because I think it also bypasses things like protection now.

Your day to day damage will be the same. Places with vigor and such like raids won't see ridiculous cheeses is all.

Odin will not be affected. His burst damage scales off the opponent’s max health, not hit damage.

Yes, this. This isn't a "champions with Echo damage gets nerfed all over the game" change. There are exceptionally few areas where this change is even going to affect said champions. In today's game, it's basically just the Big Thing AQ mode and Raids.

I see far more benefits to this change than I do negatives. As I understood it, Kabam has had to create artificial barriers to keep a few champions from doing ridiculous amounts of damage. By tweaking how those few champions work, that allows them to design future content without those artificial barriers, which should in turn open up for more champions to do more damage overall. Again, not in every game mode, but in modes such as Big Thing or Raids or whatever in that vein comes next.

Ah, right. I re-read his ability I was thinking of and while it's 2.75%, it is based on their max health.

I at first just seen percentage and said "you gotta be kidding me, this better not affect him!", haha
