Wonder if the goal is just to get people to fork over 5,000 units next month for the blade piece at this point. Tried a couple matches in vibranium since it was the last day…. Newly branded elders just beating each other up. Seems as if everyone below that just gave up.
It is a lot of units, but almost feels better than having to play bg everyday for a month
Plus it’s 2500 for these and not 5000 like the deathless.
I think the fact that getting 1 or 2 wins in GC already gets you to Gamma/Arcane nowadays also results in less participation in GC overall.
I don't really see a reason to spend another few hours playing GC just so I can maybe land in Quantum and get an additional 20k radiance. Getting 60k-80k from playing 1 match instead of getting 100-120k from playing multiple hours seems good enough for me, when the actual game mode doesn't interest me all that much anymore and I'm not even guaranteed to actually meaningfully increase my points after spending hours grinding
Officially will miss GC. Next month will be a grind im sure but 2500 units does not take long to get.
The season still has a few hours left but I already hate the next season with all my heart.
Just saw Nagase video on Attuma, and while I did get the impression that he did, but in that video he stated that he retired from high end BG.
For context this is the player that got the most qualified point for the Brawler last year.
So current state of BG is
Bero Man - Quit MCoC (mainly because of CCP twitch exclusive, but ascension and other factors were also in the background)
Andrew The Ruff - Quit BG - due to Ascension)
Nagase - Quit BG - to the state of BG
Liam - Quit BG - to the state of BG
Many other high end players have slow down in the game and especially BG, Lagacy, KT1, ect.
WhilWhile at the medium to low end players just not finding it enjoy or rewarding for their time.
The problem with BG is an accumulated of various factors
This make BG even more draft and roster dependant, which cause frustration to players as they feel the experience and results of the match are not within their own control, knowledge or skill.
This reduce participation, because if both, the experience of the game mode it not enjoyable and it is not rewarding for the time invested then why bother.
Once participation started to reduce is it a vicious cycle that will just feed itself, and would need big decisive action to halt the drop, but that didn't happened. Which lead to the problem gotten worst.
Now I believe that Kabam know all of this and are trying to take action to revitalise BG.
However, and this is a a big however, there seem to be a lack of coherent between the BG team and let say the Finance team (or those that focus on that area)
For example:-
All of these ideas are good, and great and can generate Kabam cashflow, it become a detrimental when it lost it balance between monetisation.
How fix BG is not a simple solution, because the problem lie rosted deep in Kabam business structure, struggling to find a balance between generating what Kabam consider as "enough" cashflow/profit and push players beyond they financial and enjoyment for a hobby. Right now the balance isn't there.
Fixing BGs and the game at large has always been very simple. Kabam just needs and has always needed to do one simple thing.
Actually listen to their playerbase.
But they dont want to. They want to do the bare minimum that is met with mild acceptance and nets them the most profits. If they actually cared about fixing bgs they would have been listening to all the top players, the ccp, and the community at large since its release and would have made omega pools the #1 priority for the mode coming out of summoners fest instead of the random garbage we are getting right now
This is a very good view... I'll say this the best way to fix BG is to create a balanced roster without hurting their finances and it's pretty simple because it's in many other gacha games I have played Make lower resources easier to get while still selling the higher tier resources say for instance T5A comes out Let T7B and T4A become abundant then T6CC, T6B and T3A become even more abundant while reducing toxic defenders release drastically... Some people will say aren't T3A and T6B verily available? The answer to that is mighty no Because Taking one champion up cost way more than what is available. Most hero collector games you can farm resources multiple times to rank/level up you heroes but in MCOC we only get what is giving drip by drip from kabam and they always seem to do the bare minimum look at essential
Just spitballing here, but since you pick 7 champs but only need 6 what if you had something like if you lose the 1st match you can ban one of the remaining 5 champs on the other team etc. Would negate some of the luck and add more strategy.
Sounds like a suggestion from someone who loses more than they win.
Then if you make it to the third round, the person who lost the first round has a much larger advantage by having an extra champ to pick from.
You could remedy this by letting the loser of round 2 also ban an extra champ, but that would likely lead to people purposefully losing round 1 so they can have the final ban.
Not sure why you would want to lose the first match and then have to win 2 in a row. You both start with 7, after rd 1 you have 5 each which becomes 5-4. If it goes to rd 3 you both are down to 2. There could be some advantage in being able to which champ they can't use but you still had to win rd 2. It could at least make it more strategic.
Sometimes part of the strategy is throwing a match that you have no chance of winning by tossing champs you don't need in a matchup you can't win. This doesn't guarantee a win, but significantly increases your chances of winning because you are now stronger for the last two rounds. Your idea (which, sorry, is awful), would make this an overpowered strategy and give one player a significant advantage in the final two rounds. You would lose purposely against one tough defender, throwing away a champ that isn't useful in the remaining rounds, and then get to remove another strong defender, or possibly attacker, that you don't have a counter for or is a perfect counter against you. There is no argument against that being an absurd advantage.
Too many losing players have the mindset that fair gameplay is hidden behind putting the players they lose against at a disadvantage, and then make absurd suggestions that such actions wouldn't give them an advantage where there shouldn't be one.
Another Brawler
And don't worry, next season will make it worse, no health points is insane, sadly is actually a not rewarding mode if you are not a tryhard or whale player
Just spitballing…. but what if we draft 9 champions instead of 7…. that could introduce more variability & strategy
Why not turn BGs into an Extraction Shooter?
Rank 5 crystals as rewards, but lose your 7R5 Serpent if you lose his round and the match. Risk losing your Elder progression title in the process. The strategy would be (1) Bring in deck of just 6-stars and below vs (2) Bring in deck of your top 7-stars and gamble you can dominate.
There will definitely be more variety in champions you face.
puttin gc people in diamond 5 is a motivation killer. By the time I reach gc, I'm spent. I don't wanna do any more of that game mode it's so exhausting
this is the first season since I'm playing BGs I haven't hit GC. It takes so much time and the back and forth just makes it longer. I really don't think you should be able to go backwards until you hit GC. I know a ton more people play if that were the case. It's one thing to lose but it's so discouraging to get a match away from progressing and then lose a few in a row and go right back to where you started when you sat down to play 45 minutes later.
never cook again
Narwh4l basically explained what I was referring to. I forgot on the forums you have to explain everything like you're talking to a 4 year old.
If you ever wonder why Kabam never respond to posts like this.…
The metas are not fun, the rewards are obsolete, the stores are pitiful. That's the only reason why most people stopped engaging. The rest is people bringing their own agendas and putting them in a complain bag to create a combo package
It's Kabam's job to sift through criticism to find constructive feedback. If they can't and then can't apply proper changes, players will stop playing.
Not the point but ok....
People jump on every BG thread to say "matchmaking wahwahwh" its been happening since day 1.
And its not really their job to entertain you, their job is to make money exploiting your sense of entertainment, they are pretty good at that. No matter how disgusted some players are with the game a brand new sale pops up and FOMO kicks in.
Many whales who spend large amounts of money don't even play battlegrounds in case anyone is wondering
They don't need radiance
I'm f2p with 34.5k prestige and I don't play battlegrounds or war. Radiance is overrated.
I think saying stores and metas are the reasons why most people are quitting is a bit of an overexaggeration tho. You don’t think there’s anything wrong with the game having over 20 trap bs defenders that straight up require hard counters or you lose the round no matter how good you are at the game? And yes I am counting the og bs ones too like Iceman Attuma and Domino not just the newer ones Yelena, Serpent, Britain, Dark Phoenix, pretty soon Ruby etc.
I’ve been playing BGs for years, had the same alliance teammates playing BGs for years as well, haven’t switched alliance in over four years and neither have they, and we all agree that the amount of bs defenders are slowly contributing to the decline in participation too because they are changing the dynamic of the game mode itself. The more bs defenders we get the harder it gets to draft counters, the harder it is to design metas that don’t absolutely break certain defenders due to how much unavoidable bs the kits are packed with, and the more the game mode turns into a **** ass card game which isn’t what BGs originally was about. When I started playing BGs years ago what made it so fun was the fact that rosters were extremely diverse and it really was mostly about skill than draft. I remember during the first power burn meta I was running a 6* Vulture on my deck and actually winning rounds lol. Metas used to be super fun too because the defender kits weren’t packed with so much bs so whenever they designed a meta they were able to add more fun tricky nodes instead of just the usual protection purify or root bs which is what most metas are about these days.
So sure you can make an argument about stores being outdated because they are, but saying that the only other reason most people have dropped BGs is because of the metas is simply not true. I have seen multiple comments on these forums as well as my alliance server and some BGs streams (mainly Trappy’s may his channel rest in peace, no **** he also retired lol) begging Kabam for a whitelist/blacklist system because we’re sick of playing the same card game with the exact same cards every single season but they just choose to ignore it instead.
