Battleground Discussion
I am deeply frustrated with the current state of Battlegrounds.
As it stands, the mode has shifted from a skill-based competition to a "roster-check" that alienates the majority of the player base in favor of high-spending "whales."
There are three critical issues that Kabam needs to address immediately:
1. The Failure of the Matchmaking Algorithm: It is statistically improbable that in a game with millions of players, every single matchup in Platinum II is against accounts holding "Legend" tags and rosters featuring multiple Rank 5 7-star champions.
The Discrepancy: My roster still relies on 6-star champions. Matching me against players with significantly higher-tier rosters ensures the outcome is decided before the draft even begins.
The Logic Gap: Why is the system unable to find parity? Competitive modes should pair players based on a combination of rank and roster strength to ensure a fair fight.
2. The Damage-Race Meta: Speed Over Skill
The decision to remove or nerf health pool points has proven to be a disaster for competitive balance.
Battlegrounds should be about who handles the defender better. However, by prioritizing speed/damage over health preservation, you have removed the "skill" element.
The Math Problem: A 7-star Rank 2 attacker cannot mathematically out-pace a 7-star Rank 4 or Rank 5 in a "nuke" contest, regardless of how well the person with the smaller roster plays. If I play a perfect, hitless fight and my opponent plays sloppily but finishes 10 seconds faster because of raw stat power, the game is rewarding roster depth rather than mechanical mastery.
3.By catering almost exclusively to the top 1% of spenders, you are creating a barrier to entry that is driving players away. Many of us want to participate in Battlegrounds, but the "automatic loss" feeling caused by lopsided matchmaking makes the mode a chore rather than an achievement.
These are my genuine feelings towards Kabam and particularly Battlegrounds
