Why are whales being accused of having a bigger advantage in this BG meta?

I’m seeing many forum posts saying whales have a big advantage in this BG meta. But how exactly? Is it just that they have better rosters? Don’t they always have better rosters?

Or does this imply that whales are bad players? In other metas, whales can usually kill faster than F2P players, but they often take more damage in return.

I don’t. That’s why I made the post—to understand. I’m a casual player and not very skilled, and I generally lose to bigger rosters. Nothing unusual for me in this meta.

To answer the question, a skilled player can fight upwards against bigger accounts and win because they are able to finish with close to full health. So their rank 3 attacker won’t beat a rank 4 defender as quickly as rank 4 vs rank 4 but this is mitigated by their health at the end to give them a higher score.

In the current meta health doesn’t matter and it’s very difficult for those rank 3 attackers to depose of those rank 4 defenders fast enough. The rank 4s (and now ranks 5s) vs ranks 4s are, more often than not, going to finish their matches more quickly purely because they have a higher damage output and it doesn’t matter how much health they lose in the process.

The idea is that whales have bigger rosters which means more HP, which in turn means longer to kill (and/or whales have the newer champs which means they have the newer, harder to defeat champs). Since HP doesn't matter, just having more HP that you have to deplete is beneficial. So whales can play sloppy and still win because it took you longer to defeat them, even if you have more HP.

But I saw many small accounts (7r2 in their deck) in the upper echelon of VT, so it's still doable.

The thing that I've seen right now is that the quantities of r5 drafted are the biggest difference between a victory or a loss, if I fight someone and they don't block my r5 and a put them in defense most likely it's a win for me, the quantity of life alone make a good stall.

The nightmare begins when you face someone with more then 3 r5, you can block 3 and pray for him to not draft the others

the last sentence sums it all up. you can say the changes were made for whales only to benefit. This is a broken record, but it's crazy how many times this game reflects real life.

well, in my opinion, facing whales with 5-6 R5s, you can still win with strategic defence placements and know when to throw the round, if you draft a better counter, that R5 will melt faster than your R4 defender.

for example i defeated an R5 karolina (yeah i know she aint the best defender) in 19 seconds with Emma Frost, again, 19 seconds.. also consider that not every whale is running recoils, so if you are running them, you have the attack of an R6 champion.

The idea that people spend way too much money on something that they are bad at is a bit ridiculous...

But sure, whales suck. F2P are honorable players with pure untouchable, unquestionable, and unmatched skills that can't be bought...

Super hero context: Tony Stark and Batman are not super heroes, they are just rich with cool gadgets then.

The biggest problem I'm facing right now is about the shuffle signets, when you are looking for a good or decent counter and use the shuffle.... You see the same characters rearranged, like why?

One time my opponent used it, 2 same champs out of 3 in final draft.
