I think you need to give up this debate. It is no longer constructive to what these forums are created for and definitely has very little to do with what this thread even started to be about.

You are correct. A 300 unit crystal has nothing to do with predatory behavior. (rolls eyes).
But you are kind of right in that it wasn't the original intent of the thread. But I do not think it is not constructive. We are talking about one of the most toxic things about this game that should be reworked.

This discussion has been derailed by the comment that you don't have to buy crystals. Fine that is true and that is the end of it. The point is that vast majority of FGMC are mostly likely being bought with currency and not by free to play players. FTPers tend to be far less likely to use their units on FGMC's because they know how hard it is to earn 3k units grinding.

The reality is that the crystal is pretty expensive considering the odds for me at least. I am sure there are some independently wealthy players who feel differently. At least now thanks to the good folks at Apple we can make that decision with all the facts.

It's not derailment. It's directly related to the topic. When you're talking about the cost of the Crystals, the cost is Units. Not money.
In any case, when you're considering the overall cost of Resources, it's not unreasonable for a chance at a 5*. I respect that some feel it's overpriced. I don't agree that it's out of range.

Except when they are addicts, they have to work extra hard to avoid any kind of situation that could take them back to bad habits. Like a "not gambling" free to play game.

One in favor of this game mechanics... now more people are aware if they are prone to addictions. They probably weren't looking for that when they saw an ad for a game with his favorite characters.

Perhaps the game should come with a cool down for people that spend to much. At least in the unit store. It will not fix the issue, but it would look like they care about their customers.

I still think the crystals should be replaced with something else, not luck related. Only effort.
The 300 units crystal is amazing, even with it's low drop rate, it's much better than a 400 unit crystal, and sometimes more satisfying than a 2500 units crystal. And the reason it is more satisfying is that chance to have a new 5 star without waiting to collect 10k shards. Even better, while you are still collecting 10k shards, and get even more shards by duping those 4 stars. In a way, it's the natural evolution of all the other crystals. It makes sense, so I think the crystal is great. I just don't think this game should rely on crystals this way.

I would keep crystals but not random. Like a 100% chance of having a character in a specific tier.

Maybe it would be worth it if they put 4* at 35% chance, and 5* at 4.5% chance. The rest 3 star at 60.5% chance.

Wrong again. There are 2 contexts to consider when looking at the word “gambling”: the general definition of gambling (as someone defined above) and legal gambling law (what the government defines as gambling). MCOC in no way registers as a legal gambling app so we can rule that context out. When people say they want to “gamble” on crystals, they are simply saying they want to take a risky action in hopes of a desired result (pulling the 5* or 4*).

“Gambling” is a broad term and does not always refer to the legal definition of gambling law. It can be used in both ways but it’s quite obvious the context of which it is being used in this thread. This should be a very simple concept to grasp.

who is a complete whale, has every single featured champs,has around 5 6* champion pulls
has yet to complete act v, he didn't even do the Michael b Jordan and didn't even do uncollected modok event since that event also gave away a title. You can tell he doesn't grind also by looking at his duel/arena stats

for blade example briant grant tried like 7 times to get blade, for a "chance" to pull blade,
he paid those extra 5,000 5* for a chance for blade.

Say you have 5$ in change, You can go to a crane machine in the store for a chance at a stuff bear you can either spend Way less than 5$ or walk away spending 5$ and not get it? or go the store and just buy the stuff bear for 5$.

You don't need to own something to gamble. What we are discussing here is that the whole mechanics of "purchasing" crystals is gambling. It doesn't matter if there is money involved. You are still gambling because it's a game of chance. I am not sure how we can make this more clear.

It's gambling in the "risking units for champs" sense but legally in the US it's not classified as gambling yet. In other countries however it's already labeled as legally gambling to.
