Typically you would think that as the years go by things would get better... Not with Kabam though, they are trying out the new method of having things get worse as the years go by...
gift
NOUN: a thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present.
com·pen·sa·tion
NOUN: something that counterbalances or makes up for an undesirable or unwelcome state of affairs.
Kabam is trying to say that the gift is actually compensation, which means that it was never a gift in the first place.
They are trying to kill two birds with one stone.
And to think of how long they’ve had to prepare
We can just add this to the laundry list of problems in the game over the last few months, starting with all the problems the FIRST iteration of this game mode caused. It didn’t get better from there, and it’s no coincidence there’s issues the very first day it’s launched again. Some people still are having issues with their devices overheating. And final point, since this is subject to forum rules and there’s comments being deleted, it’s actually up to the moderators to determine what is appropriate to the topic or not, and acting like a moderator or answering for them is breaking the forum rules. Something that should be very clear to anyone self determining what’s on topic here or not.
You know, for all that I think Kabam has handled this situation poorly in general, and in most particulars, one thing I find inexplicable is players taking random swipes at the beta testing done on the client update. I've heard it characterized in lots of different ways, from "desperation" and "begging" for help, to a Youtuber actually calling it "shady" (which is bizarre on many levels).
However frustrated we might be over some of Kabam's actions and messaging, we're only hurting ourselves characterizing the one thing they did right in anything other than a positive way.
Well it did allow people to exploit unit purchases and some got away with it for months so I guess you could say the Beta itself was horrible.
My biggest issue with it is that they haven’t actually come out and admitted fault or taken responsibility for this. They had to have the player base help them with it, at their own risk, and then after that period they came up with this horrible botched compensation package for the issue itself - while still showing that they didn’t have any intention of taking responsibility or compensating everyone adequately for how it affected those individual players and those in their groups.
Okay, this is getting off-topic, so I'm not going to delve too much. I will say this. People are responsible for their own choices. They didn't "allow" people to exploit. That was a choice. A poor one at that. They volunteered to help with the overheating issue and they took advantage of that trust. It was also not months.
Yeah, right!! Those things are actually valuable to us and would make us feel happy and truley appreciated. I don't see what the problem is. It wouldn't cost a damn thing to give us these things, any more or less than what is being given that has little to no value to us. I can't believe that they truly think that "summoner appreciation" is being offered as COMPENSATION!! That's what gets me. And it's only 25% of what it was last year when is WASNT compensation, when the game was in a much better condition. This is a HUGE slap in the face. I have been abstaining from spending cash on this game, not buying by the odin like usual, only $10 when absolutely nessecary until Kabam gets it together. Then stuff like this makes me want to cut out the $10 spends for emergencies and become free to play. The thing is, I used to enjoy spending on this game, but this "appreciation" of me as a PAYING customer, I cannot justify it. I mean, who wants to pay to be treated like ****??? Not me!!
Closed beta tests are by their very nature exploitable: they are unfinished and untested content. Most closed beta test programs I've been in generally make it clear to the beta testers that they are being allowed early access to content under very specific and limited conditions, and their conduct within that program is generally held to a higher standard than normal, and deliberate attempts to compromise the game while in the beta program will tend to have harsher penalties than otherwise.
When someone deliberately and explicitly compromises a closed beta test to exploit the conditions of the beta test program for personal or otherwise gain, the sole responsibility and fault for that is with the player. Period. If you think this is fair game, don't join closed beta tests.
That would be ridiculous if they asked the playerbase to run the beta test program. However, I have no knowledge of that occurring.
