Willpower Mastery Advice for Mid-Tier Players

I’m Free-to-play (at least for now) and I’m very stingy with my units. My highest ranked champions are 4 Star Rank 40 and I just completed Act 4 the first time.

If you are near where I’m at in the progression of the game and you haven’t unlocked the costly masteries yet, let me just tell you - the Willpower mastery is TOTALLY worth it. I’ve unlocked one level on Despair, Deep Wounds, Assassin, and Willpower and I can clearly say that the one level on Willpower has made the biggest difference for me.

I just spent on the unit-based Mastery Core sale (great deal - thanks Kabam!) and even one level in Willpower has really helped me on the nodes in Chapter 3 of Act 4 where there are random debuffs that apply.

If you’re not that skilled and you don’t like to spend units on revives - unlock the Willpower mastery. It has already been a game changer for me.

For experienced players, would you recommend maxing the Willpower mastery out? I know the increase in levels is slight, so I’d appreciate your thoughts.

Just watched that video and Prof Hoff’s too. This is a great deal - I’ve been a daily player for 6 months and this is the best (other than the Vision deal) that I’ve seen.

I think I may max out Willower after seeing Brian Grant’s video.

We are more or less at the same level and have no experience, yet, with Willpower. But currently working on the trio Despair - DW - Assasin. All these masteries seem to be of tremendous help and they justify being so expensive. I guess the same applies for Willpower. DWs you will see more effect the higher you take this up. Not so sure if Assasin is worth more than a couple of points, though...

You should definitely have a point in Willpower but nothing beyond that. Most mastery setups (esp. those that require a lot of units) depend on the roster and your preferences. For example, if your roster has a lot of bleed heavy champs, getting points in DW seems reasonable. Likewise if you use Void, you must max out despair. If you intend to do a lot of arena (which IMO you should to get gold and units), you must unlock masteries which give PI boost and suicide masteries.

So, coming back to the OP one point in Willpower is sufficient. Initially, spend your units only on unlocking masteries.

Thanks! I went ahead and unlocked all levels - the change for regeneration went from 37 hp per second to 50 per second. For where I’m at in the game, it’s worth it but as I progress, I may take it down depending on how much it helps regeneration. Currently with maxed willpower, my Morningstar becomes a much more sustainable champion.
