GC matches score more points. But only about 10-15% of the players make it to GC eventually, and match making tends to slow for most players in GC. So points per match will go up, but points per hour…2 -

I actually did what Brian mentions he forgot to do: I max sigged as many champs as possible before opening champion crystals, to improve the odds of getting max sig crystals, to open more crystals.11
