It's not scheduled maintenance.. They’ve said in the past that it is just the easiest existing message to put there for times when game is unintentionally down because of a problem.1 -

Although, if they are staying in VT to grind, that means they would be losing at least 1/2 of their matches. Which means people facing them (even if under-strength) could maybe win about 1/2 of those…3 -
