I think you were LATE with your Day 18 (unless you are in Alaska or Hawaii). So, just like the Daily Calendar in game, you forfeit your progress. You have to start back at DAY 1 now again.

While that's a possibility, that they are doing a “Cross-Border” war, playing on opponent's higher level Tier Map. Where they normally never play on. I’d bet it is the bug though, that even those playing at Tier 9 or 10 Map, down in Hard, and at least some cases of it also affecting a war down into INTERMEDIATE as well…

It's fairly obvious that OP meant an “Expiring SOON” type of thing. Whether they would suggest expiring within 24 hours (probably best), or 48 hours. Game already has a visual trigger (I think it is 24 hours ?), and so that could be the same that would be included for the “Sell Expiring Soon” button.
